Was out for a short stroll when I happened across a bear carcass that someone had shot and taken the hams off. The ribs , hide and front quarters were left to the birds.
There was a pack of sh!thawks feasting away, by the time I got the buckshot and slugs out of the 870 they were on the fly.
I only had enough time to load one 3 inch mag #2 shot and took aim at his tail feathers.
He was making tracks to get outta Dodge, but a round of magnum #2 shot crashed him into the raspberry patch.
He looked like one of those WW2 planes being shot out of the sky, one wing folded under while doing a flat spin into the berry patch.
I'm going back later before the carcass is all gone to dust a few more,I am going to switch out the IMP CYL choke for the MOD to get a bit more distance.

Just curious what the definition of a s^^^t hawk is out on the Island. I know what they are here.

I always thought sh!thawks were seagulls. Remember folks, you have the right to stay silent!;)

What else goes by that name?

This has the potential to turn into an epic thread!

We all secretly agree that $hithawks should be shootable but alas they are not. I'm surprised with over 3000 posts you haven't learned the three S's:popCorn:

You need a permit from the ministry of the environment to shoot seagulls.

Way above MNR, or the okey doke from a landowner or farmer.

Be careful what you print any further 303 carbine.

BIG WARNING.

If you're $h!t hawks are seagulls be very careful. No foolin....

No permit will allow you to shoot the "Queens bird" any more than you can hunt bald eagles with a pheasant license.

If were talkin seagulls, you can get a permit for shooting "the queens bird" But it has to be for good reason.

I can give you all an example of a "Good reason", but you still need the permit, and count of birds shot.
And The ME wants to see them. They take it very seriously.:)

Hey I didn't say anyone shot a seagull, I said I *thought* a sh!thawk was a seagull and asked what other birds go by that name!

sjemac, did you're dogs really retrieve those birds?.
My dog smelled the ones we shot(with permit), took a leak on one and never retrieved them at all. Gosh darn German Wire Hairs are so stuck up.:)

Must have known the difference I guess, and this, from a dog that would die before missing a retrieve.:D

I'm sure the sh%&hawks for mentioned are infact crows & all is well.

I'm hoping the same, got no love for the bird but illegal stuff on this site don't fly. Was about to lock this down nobody has admitted to it being a seagull.

The pics of all the seagulls interests me though. Pretty sure you had one of them permits cause it would be a damn stupid thing to do if you knew it was illegal.
