Shadow 2 REVIEW, unpacking, initial thoughts (very pic heavy)

Am a little disappointed in the heavy DA trigger pull and the effort required to pull the slide back to load. I have new springs on order and hope to see some improvement in these areas after spring swaps. FWIW the pistol shoots nice groups with everything I've thrown at it so far. (115-124-125 and 147 gr bullets.

You can reduce your DA pull with a reduced main spring. You just have to make sure that it is complimented with a reduced power firing pin spring for 100% ignition. My DA pull is down to an extremely smooth 6.5 lbs.

I've been hearing on lot about the heavy DA on the shadow 2. How exactly did you get it down to 6.5lbs?
Slavex, what is the pull weight on your production gun?

Mine is around the same. With an 11lb hammer spring and some polishing on parts it's right around the 6-6.5lb mark. Single action is quite nice, but I swapped in a regular competition hammer as my gun had one of the hammers with massive hooks on it. Current gen guns have better hammers.
The difficulty racking the slide also has to do with the new engagement surfaces on the slide that meet the trigger bar. I have an 11lb recoil spring in mine and I cannot work the slide like I could my Shadowmate. Hopefully once it's hit a couple thousand rounds it will be easier, not that I'm really concerned about it.

I believe CZ Customs ships some parts to Canada. The springs and comp hammer that Slavex mentioned are the same for the Shadow 2 as they are for the Shadow 1.

The CZ Customs website does a good job of explaining what parts fit the Shadow 1.

This is the correct description of the 11lb spring for the Shadow 2 mentioned by Slavex?

CZ 75/85/SP01 Spring Recoil Full 11 LB X 1

Thanks.

Mr Slavex mentioned 2 different Springs. Mainspring and recoil spring

Slavex runs an 11lb main spring and an 11lb recoil spring. If you want to lighten your trigger, you need the lighter main spring. CZ Custom does not sell a 11lb main spring. The lightest they sell is 13lbs. The Shadow 1 main spring will work in the Shadow 2.

Same thing with recoil springs -> Shadow 1 recoil springs work in the Shadow 2.

If you just want the recoil springs, combat hammer and a 13lb main spring, you can get them from CZ Custom. If you're looking to find a 11lb main spring, only Cajun Gun Works sell them (they advertise it as a 11.5lb spring I think) and they don't ship to Canada.

As Slavex mentioned, you could order a 12lb main spring from Robin Sebo out of Czech.

He'll have 11lb factory hammer springs shortly I think.
I use an 11lb factory spring in my match gun. Still using the same ones I got in 2011 in Greece, just keep swapping them across guns. For my practice guns I run the 11.5lb Cajun springs (yes they are available from me). For recoil I run factory 11lb recoil springs. But will be testing some factory 8lb ones as well. If they work okay I'll bring in a bunch. I will admit I have had some issues with the 11.5lb hammer springs lately, and that's with reduced firing pin spring and extended firing pin. same ammo worked fine in a Shadow with regular firing pin. Going to do some checking of primer depths and such and see if it was a fluke.

Hope you get that sorted out. Looking forward to hearing what was the cause.

Thats odd, it may be the extended firing pin. A few people ave reported issues with them in the past. I have also had a bad experience with one in a 1911 years back. You shouldn't need an extended pin, if you have a reduced power firing pin spring installed.

I had the trouble with a regular firing pin, and agree, the longer ones shouldn't be needed, but figured give it a go first.

Hooray, my IPSCStore order came in earlier than expected. Last order took about 4wks. This one took 2.5wks to get to my door. Got mainsprings coming out of my Yin-Yang now. I ordered a 11lb and 10lb spring as well as a -10% trigger spring and some other springs for my 226 etc.

With the 11lb mainspring, I was getting 7 3/4lb DA and 2 3/4lb SA. I did a full strip and polished up all the contact points including pins and light deburring inside the frame etc. After reassembly, DA went down to 7 1/2lbs and 2 1/2lb in SA. I'll pop some primers and see if it's still reliable else I'll have to up the poundage on the mainspring. She's nice and slick now. :)
