Sharon IPSC Level II

Really?

I do...

All my buddies do....

I still talk to members that say they only shoot matches at their own clubs now because they hate the online signup...

I will admit that I liked the Match page on IPSC Ontario better when it defaulted to all matches viewable on a single HTML page...but I still go there (to the now less usable GIU) Thanks for that by the way

If you have some evidence that the majority of our members are not using the website page...feel free to share. Otherwise it's just what your buddies are telling you

Sorry to break the news for you, Pat, but most of the people don't visit IPSC Ontario site for matches or even CGN, .

What can I say, Craig, you are not only one who talk to members.
Even one of your own club reps admitted on the last club rep meeting (which Pat had missed, btw) to been waiting for the match to appear on ipsc-matches in order to sign up...

I have to say it was nice to have the phone in method and I'd do it again....

I have an iPhone and I can easily and have done so many of times fill up 4 - 6 spots for a 9am sqaud for my friends and I in 2 minutes or less because I have the time and instant e-mail where as my friends don't and can only check their e-mails when they get home and some work late too.

Now with the Sharon match sign up I had less responsibilities and just forward the phone number to my friends and said I leave it up to you to call, no e-mail, no internet required... good old fashion phone call and I'm signing up for the 9am squad.

I'm for the phone call method...

But you want to force them to go to IPSC matches. A bit hypocritical isn't it?

Me? Want? You must have thinking of someone else.

People been complaining that they can't go to the matches anymore because all Ontario matches are filled in. Pat is now trying to address that by changing the signup process and somewhat restricting information about that change. All in all I don't think he actually fixed anything, as this occasion wasn't representative.

The RA Center uses an interesting method...which seems to be working.

When the match first opens up...you have to sign up to work before you can signup to shoot. When all the worker slots are full (guaranteeing they have enough workers to run the match) they open it up to everyone.

It works great...no big mad rush to sign up just to hold your spot...and there is always plenty of help at the match.

Not really. As you said it yourself at some point, people can vote with the match attendance.

He/she was waiting to see if it showed up? Or was upset that it wasn't there? Theres a big difference. I'm sure there has been lots of people waiting to see if it would show up, I expect MrClean will get a lot of panicked phone calls next week. That's why I posted here today...to let them know it won't be showing ip there and hopefully they can call earlier instead of panicking.
Yup I missed the club rep meeting, I was out teaching pistol with the ORA CQB guys and having a fantastic time in the sun.

so now it doesn't really mean anything if they do or don't sign up?

Don't know about them, but I am surely know about me. Besides, I can drop out from the match any time I want anyways, or do a no show. Your new signup process don't change that, more over, I suspect it will handle it worse then the automated signup system.

No, that's true, to drop out they actually have to pick up the phone, and in the past that usually didn't happen. However a lot of the people who sign up on spec and pull out at the last minute or don't show up probably have not signed up at all, guess we'll have to wait to match day to find out.
Of course the other side of this is, since the match isn't overbooked with long waiting lists, does it matter? At this point anyone can still sign up and shoot. If the match was full and people didn't get to sign up and then we had no shows it would be a problem, but at the moment we still have slots. So it really doesn't make any difference at this point, show up and shoot, or don't. We haven't prevented anyone from attending.

Just so I understand correctly, some clubs will be not be on the match management sign up? and I am to look for the matches on the IPSC Ont calendar. Then at some point the match will open up, and then be posted on Gun nutz if there is still spots available. Then I sign up via phone call to MD. Is that correct or am I missing some thing?

Aside from being posted on funnies yup, that's pretty much it, there is no requirement to post here, just though I'd pass along that there are still spots open.
Bottom line, check the IPSC Ontario match calendar, that's why it's there

Call the MD, I dont have the list.
Last I checked Sunday was pretty much full but there iffy be a couple of spots and Saturday still has some

As euxx has pointed out in the past, while there is no requirement for matches to use the online sign up, all matches must be posted on the IPSC Ontario website in order to be considered a "sanctioned match" so that should always be the first place to look.

I found out about it by checking the calendar, wasnt a big ordeal. there was no "insiders group". if you cant be bothered to check the match calendar, then dont be pissed off if you miss a match. online match sign up isnt an offcial ipsc ont entity and there is no rule saying it must be used. it does take a bit of workoad off of the MD but it also has some downsides, increased noshows, advantage to those with smartphones. We can't have ipscont dictating match fees, just as much as we cant dictate sign up method( as long as the match is open to all members) This match was open to all members, it was listed in sitrep and the match calendar.
for those who wait for it on an unofficial web page, tuff shjt, you made a mistake now deal with it
