Sharon IPSC Level II

Let's take it a step further... forget online sign up... forget phone in for sign up.... The club hosting the match makes the annoucement on the IPSC calendar and it will be now SIGN IN base on first come first arrive.

Now that's OLD SCHOOL... the good old days when buying tickets to a game or music event. So now how badly does that shooter want to shoot that match???

You are more then welcome to do that for the next match you will run.

Talk to people at your club who are interested. Talk to people who organized matches before and to the MDs at the matches, there is a lot of preparation need to be done before the actual match. Talk to CROs, ROs to help you run the match. Contact BOD, they will point you to the right direction. Pretty obvious, imho...

This is just one aspect of what we are trying at this match, the signups seemed to have worked, in the future we will post the opening date of the sign ups on the calendar as well and that should calm those that thought this was "secretive"
We are also trying out some squading variation, and stage types to try to get as many shooters through as possible. Contrary to some beliefs we were not trying to keep it small or a "club only" match, we need it to be as full as possible to see if this works. More shooter slots = everyone who wants to gets to shoot. We have bigger squads, more bodies should provide more patchers to help get the sqaud through, if you don't help patch then you are part of the problem. When matches slow down MDs want to put less people on a squad to keep the match running smooth, but then no one helps patch. The shooter certainly isn't patching, nor the on deck or in the whole shooter and the guy that just finished is cleaning his mags. that means on any given squad at least 5 guys are busy shooting, getting ready to shoot, or cleaning their gear after shooting. If we have at least 10 on the squad we should have at least 3 or 4 guys patching any given run. Again, if you are not helping patch you are part of the problem. A couple of the stages are fairly simple in structure and layout even though they have a higher round count, hopefully this aids in speeding up the runs, prep time and patching, less time working = more time for more shooters. If every Level II could handle 120 to 150 shooters (we have a short day Sunday because of range regs, otherwise we probably could have put 160 shooters through) 80 per day. If that doesn't fill then we know our saturation level and everyone who wants to shoot is shooting.

I haven't shot a match there since '92, would love to see you guys active again!

They mostly hold PPC and last year a club level "3-Gun Match". Currently there are only 6 members that I know of at our club that shoot IPSC and with me being the most active.

I'm hoping to soon start some form of action shooting, besides PPC, at our club. Maybe start small like a steel challenge but with .22 LR pistols, that would attract alot of our members to participate and also get the experience of hosting a match.

What's nice for me now is my seniority at work is getting better so my chance of getting a Saturday and Sunday off is better now.

One step at a time....

There was never a huge IPSC section there, at least one or more though is still active though I think like TY. I remember Jack Payne (Speedtimers) used to help out there.

Yup TY just shot the Peterborough match with me this past Saturday. Not bad for a old timer... haha. He'll be at the waterloo match as well but I believe he'll be in a different squad.

I'm gettting better accuracy wise but I'm still slow in my transitions. I wonder if I should lose the cargo pants and go slightly slimmer pants like the ones from DAA?

I dunno, do they make them in mens sizes yet? :D
Not sure how your pants are slowing your transitions though....:D

Them DAA pant are so slim it gives you better aero dynamics... My 5-11 cargo pants is so loose and flappy on me I'm getting wind drag. Beside I think the DAA pants will essentuate my butt better, gotta look good for the video camera. Haha :p

and here I thought there was only one camera on your hat.:D

On a same note, we should not be forcing members to use only phone signup. There is enough people who are not that comfortable to a phone conversation. It is practical shooting... not practical talking skills test.

I was wondering who was going to bring that up :D

Given the technology is used by a few to the detriment of many I must disagree. If one wants to market their match(s) specifically to gamers and lamers with smart phones then the online match signup system is the "defacto" way to go. De fact remains that many do not get a chance to sign up for matches, except for standby, when the online system is the only method employed.

So the technology one uses now determines if one is a gamer and lamer?

Really?

You sound like the EESA member deriding me last night about email newsletters getting to members faster than paper ones and wanting me to "FiX IT"........... that is the definition of LAME my good man.
I use both the online and phone systems for my matches............never had a problem aside from no shows.
