Shipping ammunition.

UPS and Purolator do ship ammo, at a higher cost.
Yup, I had a modest package of 348 wcf shipped to me from ontario by courrier, can't remember what one though, Purolator I think. 1200 bullets, couple hundred brass and 40 live rounds. If I remember right shipping was expensive, about $150 but half of that was the dangerous goods surcharge... Which in itself is a joke as no special packaging was required, nor was it segregated from any of the other packages. Just a money grab, but what can a guy do?

I did a write up with some links on this a few years back I think. Basically no restrictions until you got a small pallet of ammunition, a box of 20 in the mail no problem unless things have changed

I recently ordered ammunition from a dealer. Charged a hefty dangerous goods premium. Couldn't see any different shipping precautions except a sticker applied to outside of the box. Always found Canada Post rules dumb. Live ammo properly packaged is pretty safe.

That would be incorrect.

Not saying it doesn't happen, but definitely against the CP rules.

A nice antique. It would have been a pity if the bayonets had been sold separately. Noticing number 666, it's certain that many people don't like this number.

When the mail is involved it goes straight to federal court.
What are possible penalties for TDG violations?

For example, any person who contravenes or disobeys the TDG Act can be charged with:
  • up to $50,000 for a first offence,
  • subsequent offences of up to $100,000,
  • and up to 2 years of imprisonment for indictable offences.

I have been keeping a "mailbox" at ups stores for personal and work related packages for 3 decades. They give you a suite address that is approved for ammunition shipping legally. My personal account has been shipped enough correctly marked explosives ammo to start a revolution on some small island country. 100% legit. Has to be a actual ups store, they do not ship ammo to remote access boxes.

Improperly marked explosives shipped in the mail could cause some innocent civilian bodily harm or death. This behavior should be delt with as seriously as muzzle controll on the firing line.
Same thing. Zero tolerance.

Is it? Can someone post the section of the criminal code that pertains to it? Or possibly under the dangerous goods rules?

My question as well.

Nothing in Canadian Criminal Code. Just a violation of Canada Post rules. I think a great deal due to union whining about handling ammunition. Black powder I can see as its rather unstable and explosive compared to smokeless powder.

A box of 20 "In the mail no problem" refers to Canada post. Canada post handles the mail, not a courrier. A box of 20 would be a problem shipped that way.

Link?

Edit: it sounds like Canada Post don’t like to do it. Boo hoo. UPS/Fedex/Purolator etc are better options.

Correct.

It’s too bad someone didn’t dig into TDG regulations and post a link on requirements already. FFS…
Have at it, look it up.
Everyone else seems to understand that you can not ship ammo in the mail. (Canada Post)

That’s a little dramatic
Ya, i can get that perspective......
The majority of people would agree with you.
Be better than them.

I would prefer being called passionate.

If you trace back major accidents, they always start with minor neglect......
