Yup, I had a modest package of 348 wcf shipped to me from ontario by courrier, can't remember what one though, Purolator I think. 1200 bullets, couple hundred brass and 40 live rounds. If I remember right shipping was expensive, about $150 but half of that was the dangerous goods surcharge... Which in itself is a joke as no special packaging was required, nor was it segregated from any of the other packages. Just a money grab, but what can a guy do?

I recently ordered ammunition from a dealer. Charged a hefty dangerous goods premium. Couldn't see any different shipping precautions except a sticker applied to outside of the box. Always found Canada Post rules dumb. Live ammo properly packaged is pretty safe.

Edit: it sounds like Canada Post don’t like to do it. Boo hoo. UPS/Fedex/Purolator etc are better options.

What are possible penalties for TDG violations?
For example, any person who contravenes or disobeys the TDG Act can be charged with:
- up to $50,000 for a first offence,
- subsequent offences of up to $100,000,
- and up to 2 years of imprisonment for indictable offences.
I have been keeping a "mailbox" at ups stores for personal and work related packages for 3 decades. They give you a suite address that is approved for ammunition shipping legally. My personal account has been shipped enough correctly marked explosives ammo to start a revolution on some small island country. 100% legit. Has to be a actual ups store, they do not ship ammo to remote access boxes.
Nothing in Canadian Criminal Code. Just a violation of Canada Post rules. I think a great deal due to union whining about handling ammunition. Black powder I can see as its rather unstable and explosive compared to smokeless powder.
A box of 20 "In the mail no problem" refers to Canada post. Canada post handles the mail, not a courrier. A box of 20 would be a problem shipped that way.
