I just got back from just about every shipping company known to man and they will not ship gunpowder or primers...

Anyone know a company that can ship primers, without massive fees and permits?

As far I know they are considered a Dangerous Goods that's why it is expensive to ship. I buy primers and powder at home because of the shipping problems and buy everything else over the net cause it is cheaper ( Gotta love living in B.C. where everything costs more).

That's very hard to believe. Sounds to me like some overzealous employees who aren't aware of their own company's regulations (like Canada Post employees who scream bloody murder when they learn that handguns can be shipped by them).

Ordered a bunch of primers from Cabelas in the past, always got'em either through FedEx or UPS.

You can give Higginson Powders a call if yer out of ideas, they ship powder all the time.

They will be going DHL with hazardous materials fee of $27 i am not cutting corners shipping things with other couriers because my arse is on the line here... UPS told me today they do not ship powder or primers i hate dealing with UPS or FEDEX, i ship all my other business stuff by canada post and will use DHL for primers now.

Thanks guys for your input I actually found stuff about 1.4S explosives on the DHL site unlike the guy at the UPS store that had no idea what gun powder was and i wasnt even going to try and explain primers to him lol

Yes, DHL charges $27, but UPS, etc. won't. $27 is a lot for a box of primers. But powder you're stuck.

I've received a few shipments lately of primers and powder from UPS. Don't know what their fees are, as the retailers didn't pass them on to me...But they do ship them...

Received 2000 primers via UPS with no extra haz mat fee but they left them on my door step and I did not come home for 3 days, amazing that they were not stolen!

Trying to get a straight answer out of Canpar in this neck of the woods about shipping anything remotely related to guns, ammo and components is like talking to characters from Wonderland (as in "Alice In Wonderland")--nothing they say makes sense and a lot of what they say is outrageous. Never managed to ship anything with them although their policy apparently allows certain things (depending on quantity) and others on this board claim they do ship.

i received 300 rounds of 308 ammo shipped by canada post i was suprised,

According to the paperwork I have from canada post this is totally against there policy...

I went to dhl... the woman said I was the first person in 6 years to ship anything dangerous goods... primers are classes as 1.4s which falls under fireworks and since it was a "limited qty" they didnt ding me with there hazardous materials fee. I did however have to fill out a dangerous goods forum... which had many numbers and classiciations.

DHL said they are the only ones fully licnesed for most dangerous goods...

Primers sent and I can refund the customer the dangerous goods feel he'll be really happy.

Funny thing is at first they thought I was sending primer, like paint they where freeking out about that but when I explained what they where they kinda didnt seem to care... funny that primer is more dangerous then primers in there eyes lol :D

The primers are packaged well enough to withstand a drop, but a can of paint on the other hand, could be quite messy...:D
