barbed wire. If there are buffalo around, they like to rub against things when they molt their heavy winter fur. If there are no trees, shooting benches would do just fine.
A little barbed wire would protect the benches and avoid piles of buffalo/cow poop, too.
I once made a forced landing in a remote buffalo pasture in South Dakota. When the police found me they said that if I did not stay with the plane, the buffalo would make it look like a beer can that got stomped on. I slept under the wing for three days until the fog lifted.

When the fog cleared I did what is called a soft field take off. Lots of up elevator to get the weight off the wheels on a rough field. I was alone, so plane was not all that heavy. Was just about out of gas, too. I discovered i was very close to Mt. Rushmore.

Interesting that the 115grainers are working for you. JBM has the 105gr having less wind deflection at 3000fps then the 115gr at 2500fps. I've read about competitive and benchrest guys trying the 115 in 6BR wildcats and it not working out.
Surprised you're only getting 2500fps though. What other powders have you tried?

I pretty much stick to Vhitt powders because I find they are the easiest for me to get my hands on and I never have to worry about switching powders due to running out of my favored one.
I pretty much stick to N-140 and N-150. I do have some N-540 and N-550 but I prefer single base powders as they fowl a barrel significantly less. That's why I stay away from pretty much all hodgen powder its the most dirty crap I have ever found. I get much better results with Vhitt N-100 series or IMR powder even if my velocities are lower.
Also single base powders are less temperature sensitive then double base powders even if the double base powder has an additive to try and make it more temp stable. That's just putting a bandage on the problem and one more thing in there that adds to fowling.
I'm sure I could add some more N-150 since I have a little longer barrel and its a slower burning powder I would be safe going a little over what berger suggests as max velocity. But If I'm doing 2500fps and berger has 2527fps listed as max velocity and I'm getting great results at 2500fps then really what does it matter?
Velocity is not always the key to accuracy. If the bullet is stable at 2500fps and then I push it to 2600fps and its not stable there then the first little ways out of he barrel the bullet will be unstable until it drops back down to 2500fps and that first little ways out of the barrel is what has the most impact on accuracy.
Also I don't shoot the 105gr bullets at 3000fps seeing as that's 300fps faster then anything in the berger reloading manual or the lapua manual.
I'm shooting a 26" barrel on this rifle not a 30" barrel like some of my other rifles have. Even with my 30" barrel I only push 105gr to about 2900fps at the most with N-150
Put 2700fps in ur JBM program and let me know what you come up with for drop and wind deflection VS the 115gr at 2500fps I feel that would give more realistic results

3000 fps with a 105 is a pretty hot load. Even with a 30" barrel.
Mines 30" and I'm getting 2835@ 70°F with a safe load.

I get about 2900 with my 30" barrel and I call that pushing it...........but I'm using a single base powder, Keep in mind you can get more velocity for the same chamber pressure with a double base powder so depending on what you'r burning will change what you'r safe velocity is.
I use 30.1gr of N140. Tried N150 and got pretty similar results. I have some N540 and Norma 203B on hand, but since my load works so well I have bothered trying them yet.
On 6mmbr.com, most of their listed loads from top competitors are north of 2900fps.
Has anyone tried one of the wildcats? I might be re-barrelling this winter and am looking at the 6BRX as an option.
