Hey guys,

Just got into Trap shooting and looking for a pair of glasses. Preferably a buy once cry once type of deal. Interesting into knowing where you guys get your glasses from as well.

I highly recommended purpose-built clay shooting glasses, not sunglasses. Clay shooting glasses are designed to fit higher on the nose so you're not looking over them when down on the gun shooting rising targets.

I just bought a set of All American's from L&M lenses last year. I'm very happy with them, and there is a huge selection of extra lenses to choose from (plus Rx if/when needed). I was lucky enough to get down to a big trap shoot in NY and sit with the owner/get fitted. There was a CGN'er who was selling these glasses here in Canada - hopefully he still is and will chime in.

I use prescription Randolphs that I got from Wayne Morgan of Morgan Optical in NY. Excellent service and one of the best decisions I've ever made for clay shooting. The design is a huge upgrade from a regular pair of shooting glasses. If I didn't need prescription lenses I'd probably get Pilla.

Oakley tombstone. Got mine on eBay. I got the three lens set. $99usd. $160 Cdn after tax, shipping exchange rate. Still better than the near $420 with tax from Oakley Canada.

Every couple year I phone in my prescription to Decot in Texas. Randolph Rangers are similar and and they are sold locally but I have frames for my Hy Wyds and see no need to change/

The All American are excellent value. If you can find a Canadian dealer.

I'm always getting email ads for Oakley, and understand that a lot of them are counterfeit on eBay. That said, they could still be excellent glasses.
I hate to spend $420 for glasses when I'm used to the $10 sunglasses from Princess Auto, or the polarized ones from eBay.

The thing is that if they aren't made from poly-carbonate then they aren't shatter resistant. I've been hit by bits of clay targets many times and even hit by pellets on occasion, shatter resistance is of the highest importance and most sunglasses are not!

I believe Trivex is now the gold standard - but point take that most sunglasses are not impact / shatter resistant.

Trivex is the gold standard IF you require Rx.

For the average shooter, PC is an excellent choice. Regular 'safety' glasses are usually CR39, and DO shatter when presented with enough energy. PC will not. In fact you can take a PC lens and flex it back and forth many times without failure.
