I am mad enough to spit!

I want some of that antique browning solution that you can buy anywhere in the States - but apparently up here in Canada we're all stupid and our Nanny gubbermint thinks it is too dangerous for ordinary citizens or something. Does anybody in Alberta sell this stuff? I want a nice 'plumb brown' colour for some metal projects I am doing.

Also - cap n' ball revolvers: who is a good source for those? I know Marstar sells them but for .... er.... personal reasons....I am looking for an alternate dealer.

Can you guys offer any help?

I built a CVA .45 Cal. Kentucky rifle kit and was going to brown it so that it looked old, found some browning solution but it was expensive $60.00 + Tax.....wound up buying a tube of Birchwood Casey Perma Blue paste for <$10.00 and I am happy with the results. The finish is not durable as it is very thin but the color is pleasing, more brown than blue. I had some rust show up near the hammer after I neglected the gun for a couple of months. I removed the rust with some fine steel-wool and reapplied the blueing, that area now is darker than the rest of the gun.
I am almost certain that there are better finishes available but I have limited space to work in and a tank is not an option for me.
The blueing paste seems to affect most metals,I haven't tried Aluminum.
There are a couple of C&B revolvers on the EE right now or you could post a "Want to Buy".
I was looking for a Uberti not long ago and Reliable Gun on Fraser St. in Vancouver said that they can get them.

They don't sell salt anymore????? Not surprising as the Sobey's girl registered my Broccoli
at the check out yesterday.

Yep - it was either the turkeys at TOTW or at Dixie - but apparently they can't ship it to Canada anymore...

I just ordered some B. Cassey browning thru my local B.C. Home Hardware. Took three weeks to get, but the guy got it somewhere in Canada, paid $17.

I have bought the TOTW brand as well as Laurel Mtn Forge stuff from TOTW only a few months ago without problems. Closer to home most gun shops carry Birchwood Casey Plumb Brown solution. For this latter stuff you need to heat up your piece a bit but I have used it successfully even on big barrels. Follow the instructions and make an extra effort to degrease the metal for a nice even finish.

Probably because they cannot ship a corrosive liquid in the mail. You would have to buy the product from a company that imports the solution in case lots where it is probably shipped by truck
