Far from dumbass, I would say. I can make out exactly what you have been trying to say in the whole thread. Great to have someone here in a situation as unique as yours. It sure sounds to me like you should be able to get a wilderness carry permit if anyone can. A big handgun might be just the thing.
 
Welcome to CGN! Don't take anything personal on here, people sometimes like to belittle others in order to make themselves feel better about their own deficiencies. I personally would love to live up North. Wife won't go for it though.....Nonetheless I would look into the Carry permit for wilderness as your job sounds like it would be warranted, may be a viable option then you can have any size barrel length!
 
-what CFO would want is proof that it was imported, or made here by a licensed manufacturer as in Dlask 12" shotgun barrels and sold to you or the gunsmith at that length, I would ask CFO if my supplier has that license
 
I don't know why he keeps saying city boys, I am from further north than masset. I think you'll find using the term assault rifle etc. just annoys people.

i im stilll right .I cant spell but I know the law when it coms to firearms beside Im getting a short lever achion rifle it my mony not your I work hard fore my mony you go work on a drill it will make a man out of you! whot dos my speling got to do with firearms? you make fun of me but still my selling has nothing to do with firearms maby im not the one with the problem

No offense intended, but there is a feature on your computer called "spellcheck"

It will put a red line underneath misspelled words and change them to the correct spelling. Or it might highlight it or something depending on the program.

Spelling and firearms aren't necessarily related, but we communicate by text here, and it's important that everyone understand what everyone else is saying, especially when dealing with legal matters.

It will likely help others to more clearly understand what you are talking about.
 
CarverK, if you go ahead and get one PLEASE post pictures for us of it so we can drool over it. The project sounds like a very sweet idea. And if you can then cut down the stock to bring it a little closer to the 26 inch minimum without making it hard to shoulder and get a fast sight picture then that would make it that little extra compact.

In fact if this is a gun that is a pure and simple tool for your needs what about replacing the wood stock and foregrip with plastic replacements? A plastic grip for the foreend and maybe a telescopic AR style shoulder stock. Set it up so when at the minimum length the overall gun is the bare minimum of 26 inches plus a quarter inch for safety's sake. Then you extend the shoulder stock out when carrying to what you feel most comfortable with handling. It wouldn't be very "traditional" but as you say, it's a tool you're using for your own protection. So to hell with "traditions" in this case.

Makes sense, although my Rossi Puma M92 carbine would be more of an Appalachian Submachine gun, considering that it takes .357 mag rounds.

Personally though, I would probably consider 16" a reasonable length because you get a carbine that you can easily manage in the brush, but you still will have some decent barrel length to get good performance out of the .44 magnum rounds.

im not a computer guy and besides this site is about firearms most in portenly is this is my poset it is hard fore me to work the coputer when a smal nomber of you are just harping on my spelling right now Im thinking quiting this site just becous you have firearms dont make you an expert on firearms sum have firearms as a hoby guys like me work with them and are a importen port of ower jobs not all of us get to go to scool and live in a fantasy worled sumtime a guy have to quit scoole to go to work and suport ower famlys still cant buleve that a joke about a lever achion being a assalt rifel has goten sum upset im canadian and I will call my rifles enything i like nd legaly own and shooting them I wood not tell you whot to shoot ore how to spell mosly I wood not tell you how to act like a human bening
