Short Magnums. What are they bringing to the field?

Like others I go by what is in the brass bin at the range, there is never a shortage of 270 and 300 WSM in there before and during hunting season. Of course the old standbys like 270 Win, 30-06, 308, 7mm Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag are well represented too, along with the odd Weatherby cartridges.

i think the only survivers will be the 270 and 300wsm's. i really like the 325wsm but the others really don't do much for me. i have a 300wsm i have owned for years and if i replaced it i would go for the 300wm. the 270 and 7 wsm i sold off and kept my 270 and rem7 mag. my favorite is the 325 but i don't think it will last too much longer and it can't duplicate the performance of my rem 8 mag.

I bought a 270WSM just because I wanted that rifle and they had a limited selection of chamberings. Seems to me there is way to much over thinking going on here. They all work short mag or standard mag. Buy what you like and fill your freezers!!

bout 7 or 8 years ago i replaced my old big game gun with a 300WSM.
this year i started reloading.

i love my gun, shoots straight and fast and hits like a sledgehammer!
i got into the reloading so i could tune up a load for my 300WSM and also because the rounds are so $$ but now ive noticed the prices of 300WSM have dropped a LOT since the last time i picked up a box.

all in i have no regrets about picking up the 300WSM, was also the first left handed bold gun ive ever owned.
only thing i would have done different is pick up the one with the BOSS on the end of the barrel.
my dad got the same gun but with the BOSS on it, nice little add on. (Brownings own brand of barrel tuner)
so far this gun has brought home dinner every time its gone out (knock on wood)
