Aside from the MR223, are there any other piston AR's available for sale in Canada?

I heard that Benelli will have the MR1 available at some point and Sig is supposed to be making the 516 available as well. Anything on the Canadian market right now that is comparable to the MR223?

Check out Questar for the PWS piston uppers, the short stroke are very good for a retro fit design. The PWS complete long stroke uppers are excellant and will fit on any standard AR15.

Those MR223 are some bastard child of the 416 that fit nothing....

Why would anyone want to run non HK parts on an HK? Kinda like using Yamaha stuff on a Harley. Was able to make this beauty out of ALL HK parts that are available......:p

If the "parts" you are talking about are uppers and lowers, then you are correct. They are proprietary with the MR......so what? I do not mix and match uppers and lowers anyway as I have so many complete AR`s that this would be pointless to me. If a person had say.....a few uppers and wanted to use one lower for all....well...then....you have a point. In my circumstance...this is not relevant to me. Since HK does not sell the upper and lower as individual items....this makes it a rather pointless issue as well. Can`t simply buy a top shelf piston upper like MR and drop it on say....an LMT lower anyway.

As far as other "parts" are concerned.......everything "bolts" right up on the rails. I chose to go with all HK stuff to keep it authentic is all.

We offer a variety of Gas Piston AR's...

  • LMT offers their MRP AR's in a Short Stroke Gas Piston version
  • POF offers Short Stroke Gas Piston rifles and upper halves... including their 308 model...
  • There is a new S&W M&P AR being offered with Gas Piston (haven't seen it)
  • PWS (Primary Weapon Systems) offers Long Stroke Gas Piston uppers... their Diablo (7" in .223/5.56 and also available in 7.62x39), as well as their DC-10, DC-12 and DC-16... we carry all of these
  • We used to carry CMMG and they offered a gas piston AR (short stroke)

Here's a picture of the POF Regulated Gas Piston Upper in .308...

Yes of course I meant uppers and lowers.

The guy asked about other piston AR15s. The HK MR223 is not a AR15 at all, it uses some AR15 "parts" but thats as close as it comes to being a AR15.

The modularity of the AR15 is king, this HK is a bad joke played on the civilian HK fanboys.

So maybe then you could give us your opinion on which of these systems is best?

Maybe you havnt fired them all but you definatlly get to give them a good eyeballing.

Which looks like the best build quality?

"The MR233 is such a turd you cant mix parts and thats not a good thing."(OZZ)

Ozz......these are your exact words......even though you now claim..." I said nothing about mixing up parts anyway but you somehow come to this conclusion."(OZZ)

Dude...........WHATEVER:p

I was simply offerring a differing perspective that what your were conveying on the MR223.....and since I actually own one.....I felt justified doing so.

Yes my wording was incorrect and my grammar is even worse but it still dont change the fact.

Since you own one then you know exactly what its biggest shortfall is.

It aint a AR15!! :)

It is an AR-15...just way better. Its what the AR-15 should have been. So what if you cannot swap uppers. If you buy one it's unlikely you would want to anyway.

If you can't afford one just say so instead of bashing an excellent piece of kit.

Deutsche-SchuBWaffe uber alles!
