To use a restricted you basically need to be a member of a club (shooting range), and you must take a range course provided by the club prior to getting the ATT... requirement by the CFO?
None of that bs in Nova Scotia... Thank God!To use a restricted you basically need to be a member of a club (shooting range), and you must take a range course provided by the club prior to getting the ATT... requirement by the CFO?

you must declare your intention to join a club, but you never actually have to join one. The ATT must come from a club, according to the CFO, but if you have space to shoot safely at your home (your own property, if big enough), you don't need either a club membership or an ATT

That would be very wrong. Unless your property is an approved range, you can't shoot restricted there. Wouldn't matter if it was a gazillion acres big, end result is still the same.
if you've got the space, you're far enough from the rest of the world to not have someone call- it's only illegal when you get caught.
My understanding is that it is illegal.
Innocent until proven guilty- if there's no one to suggest I'm guilty (I'm talking about those who live way out in the country and have no neighbours nearby), there's no charge, and no issues. Strictly hypothetical, no one here would EVER contravene a law, myself included.

So by your logic, one could hypothetically murder someone and one would be innocent unless someone found and and reported it?
it was a joke guys... nothing's illegal until you get caught... the murder/theft issue is about infringing on the freedom of others, and that's a moral issue as much as a legal one.
In any case, I'm sorry if my joking comments didn't come off that way and I certainly don't advocate anyone breaking the law (I don't cross the street when the stop hand is up, even when there's no traffic, and it's raining, and everyone around me is doing it).
No hard feelings I hope
I get it. A lot of newbies come here to look for advice and may not know enough to discern from real info and joke info.
I hold no hard feelings. This is just the worse part of the forum to joke in to the point where it could really create a bad situation for some poor guy getting busted for shooting a pistol sans ATT on his farm or something. Joking and sarcasm doesn't translate well in internet text unfortunately.
