Shorten PAL Approval Times

Hmmm, Why do they bother with a "minimum 28 day wait period" when beaurocracy makes you wait months to get your license anyway. I'm not even allowed to see any rifles here until I can provide a card. Then I'm allowed the privaledge to decide which one I want to save up for. So I'm putting away a few dollars every day until I get my PAL so I can decide what I want to buy. At this rate it may not be just a rimfire rifle, but an entire hunting arsenal! Sent out my application 2.5 weeks ago and it still has yet to appear online.

try calling 705 329 5524. this is a direct line to someone starting with a C. I talked to her and she was extremely nice and approved me over the phone in less than 5 minutes. I had to leave a VM first time and she called back about 2 days later. I was approved on day 28, which was the 31st, just waiting now for the mail!

Well I decided it has been long enough, and I sent in my papers (did course and exam for NR in '99 and Restricted in '05).

Timeline as follows:

16 Jan recieved and processed at CFP in Miramichi.
30 Jan phoned in and did my interview.
30 Jan both references called in and did their interviews.
31 Jan spouse called in mistakenly, was told they didn't need to talk to her.
02 Feb Called AB CFO to enquire on status, told license approved, and expect delivery on day 28 + a couple.

Well I got it today, and my LeBaron Dicount card was right next to it lol

Dit course Nov 19/20 Recieved RPAL Feb 3

Not bad considering Christmas and New Years :)

17/12/11 : Passed pal/rpal course exam and sent result to CFO
06/02/12 : Just received my results with a stamp
07/02/12 : Will send form with results via express shipping, signature required

Will keep you newbies (just like me) posted

As I said I would. Here is my complete timeline.

Dec 18th - Took CFSC - non-restricted course and test
Dec 22nd - Mailed results/application via Canada Post express
Dec 29th - Receipt of application in Miramichi
I called about once a week at this point to see what was up with my application (get it online, missing info, etc)
Jan 26th - Approved and in the mail!
Feb 6th - Receipt on my end!!!

Now I have another noob question. I have a 22lr that has been apart forever and is un-registered. How can I go about getting it registered?

I'm approaching day 200

Took the course July 23/24, 2011. Got my stamped test results back first week of August and mailed it in right away.

Its been sitting on the desk at the Ontario CFO office for 4 months now (since early October). I have called pretty much weekly and every time the person looks it up and forwards me to the direct line of the person who has my application (they wont give me the number but will redirect me no problem). Each and every time I leave voice mail with my name, application number, date of birth, and phone number and I have as of yet to receive a return call.

I am told that on the system there are no holds or issues listed and all it needs is final approval.

My current theory is that the person who has my application has died and no one she works with knows yet. They all think shes on vacation or something.
