Shorten PAL Approval Times

HOLY slow! From all that I've read here, most everyone got their cards in the mail a couple weeks after the interview process. Have you called them?

This is a BC CFO problem.... not CFC, there the ones that are back up with applications, well.... that's what they've told me every time I've called them. As per my last post, when called yesterday regards a fax I sent last Tuesday the guy told me to call back next Friday & I can always re-fax it just in case it's didn't receive correctly or has got lost....

No, hadn't called - the interviews came pretty much on time, after that I assumed it would go pretty quick.

I called today though and ended up put through the the Saskatchewan office, who were fielding calls for the BC office as they were apparently in meetings.

She could tell me nothing other than the BC CFO has my app, and to call them (BC) in a couple of weeks if it still hasn't been approved yet :roll eyes:

From the day I sent in my PAL application to the day I got the licence in my hand - 17 days including mail transit time. I only made 1 call to ensure all info was complete. Maybe I really got lucky. :dancingbanana:

Today my online status has been updated ;) it was the 28th day after they received my pal application

Application Received on: 2012/05/18

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number.

Got my Pal in the mail yesterday, 13 days after it was issued in NB. Already went out an bought a box of 22's and picked up a 22 rifle from a friend and will be out on the range all day tomorrow!

They issued my pal rpal on June 4th and mailed it June 8th and its still not here.I swear normal mail doesn't take this long? Dose it really take the full 2 weeks?

I'm in the same boat. Here's what I found out today.

Although, they updated the system with the latest status on 05-Jun-12 with the following message:

"Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)"

The RPAL wasn't issued until 11-June-12; add 2-3wks. to that, and I'll be lucky to receive it on or before 29-Jun-12.

By the time I get it, do my probs at the club, purchase my CZ and P226 X5, get ATT's, and get on the range for some target practice it will be winter, and I'll have to wait until next summer to plink off some rounds outdoors. Feels like d:h:

I am waiting for 53 days so far. It sits on BC CFO table without any movement. I did call on Monday and left a message, still did not get any calls from CFO. will call Monday

To anyone in British Columbia, All I can say is the BC CFO is extremely "backlogged" right now.. And apparently transfers are taking upwards of 2-3 weeks. So if you newbies plan on buying your first gun, don't make it a restricted!!!

Haha. :)

How did you know your RPAL wasnt issued until the 11th? I got the "Your application has been processed and you license has been issued..." line on Monday, so maybe it still hasnt really been issued yet?
I called in and got my RPAL number from the CFO the next day and have already applied for my BC LTATT :)

RPAL - Ontario

April 30 - Challenged Exams
May 7 - Application sent via registered mail
May 10 - Application received
June 4 - Stamped test results received from CFO, Faxed to Miramichi.
(after I had scanned the originals and increased the contrast to make them legible, also wrote my application number at the top of each page)
June 7 - Interviews completed.
June 14 - Called the Ontario CFO to follow up. The firearms officer was friendly and helpful! She said " Everything seems to be in order assuming your background check comes back OK, what I can do for you is to make sure that my supervisor looks at your application this afternoon."

Later that day:

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Now waiting for Canada Post!
