Shorten PAL Approval Times

The only way they will let you do your interview on the spot, is if your application has been fully scanned into the system. This includes the application itself, your photograph, and your test results. If these are not done, they will not do your interview. As soon as I faxed in my test results on Thursday, they told me to call back Tuesday and see if they were scanned because Monday is usually really busy. I called in Friday anyways, and they were scanned so the lady transferred me to the interview department. They also gave me an extension for the interview department so that my references could call in instead of waiting to be called.

This is what I was told anyways, because I asked to do my interview and they wouldn't until they got the test results.

Hey, when they mailed you the results did they mail you 2 copies of the restricted results? Or did they mail you the non-restricted results as well? I only recieved 2 copiez of the restricted course results...

I guess it's a bit different in BC. At the start of the second day the CFSC/CRFSC instructor did a quick review and walked us through filling out the "exam report" ourselves. After we completed the written exam he took us two at a time into a separate room to do the practical exam. After he graded our written/practical exams and verified that we passed he signed his name to it and told us to photocopy it, keep the copies in a safe place and mail in the original with the application and photo etc.

Just sharing my experience for PAL/RPAL wait time.

Feb 23/24 - Took PAL/RPAL courses
March 19 - Mailed application WITH test results (yes, I waited lol)
March 22 - Tracking showed delivered to Miramichi
April 16 - Application appeared online with received date of March 22, 2013
April 24/25 - My references and I called in to do interviews (all separately)

5 minutes after my last reference completed interview, status is showing issued.

License came in the mail today! 73 days start to finish... Not bad

Nope, same thing for me. I challenged the exam and got two copies of the results immediately after passing. I made photocopies and sent with my application ASAP.

Same here. I didn't even have to make copies. My instructor game me the original and a copy. Told me to keep copy for my records and send in original. No mention of needing to wait for verification from CFO or anyone.

I just made copies in case I lost mine! I sent the original and kept my copy and scanned it because I have a tendency of putting things where I won't lose them (and forgetting where that was lol)

Yeah its an Ontario thing. I walked away from the course with no evidence I was ever there. Instructor sends course results to the cfo then we get them stamped in the mail five weeks later.

Followed this thread for the past month just to see the process. Took my course almost 7 years ago and still had the papers filed away just never got around to sending them in as i just went with a friend incase i ever wanted to shoot. 6 weeks from the day i mailed it my pal was in my hand. Strange...didnt call me or my two references it was just in my mail box. Went a treated myself with 1000 rounds of hmr yesterday.

got my rpal in about a month and 2 weeks.
I feel as if it would have been faster if my references weren't so busy.
Im a BC resident and I was told that it would probably take until june or july to get my rpal.

Damn, lucky for you guys. That is the way it makes sense.
For us, even though the instructors are registered by the gov, we still need to send in our results for approval by the CFC. It's so ridiculous.

Damn, I just called in to see if my card was printed yet and it hasn't been. Meaning I have to wait until Friday for them to mail it out :(

They received my application (pal and rpal) March 7th, did interviews March 18th and after calling in just now I've been told its just sitting in the CFO's office... This is ridiculous, its like they just decide to take certain applications and not process them. My buddy who did the course same time as me sent his application in after me, and had his interviews a week after mine already has his license in hand. We even used each other as references.

miramichi received rpal app on march 20th, license issued today, just waiting on the mail now, up to 2 weeks is stated on the website (48 days total so far, not bad actually).

You're damn right this is ridiculous. I sent mine in on Jan 28th. It's STILL waiting at the CFO's office. How stupid is this process? "Hey, let's not make a process that works. Let's not even do it in order they come in. We'll just do it willy-nilly and see just how far we can push these poor law abiding sunzabit©hes." Just because my application needs a closer look due to answering yes to a question doesn't mean others should get done first. Such bull####.

Hi,

I just wanted to give you guys an update on my application. I called the number today and asked about my application. I asked if there is any information missing and if she needed anything else. She said no and told me that the application is currently sitting at the desk of the CFO. She also recommended to call back within the next week or two. I will probably call them sometime next week to see if there is any update on my PAL application.
