Shorten PAL Approval Times

Bc cfo ?????

Still waiting for the mail man here... I was unable to get my PAL # over the phone from even the CFO after it was issued and mailed they told me its no good to me because I have to show the card! What a joke so im not going to argue and just wait it out.

Are you sure they put you through to the BC CFO?
How you describe it sounds like it's from , Not BC .............

FYI, the only reason I call it Onterrible is cause the weather I experienced my first winter here after being raised in BC :p

I've since realized Ontario isn't that bad, save the CFO's office....

I called in today so I can talk very nicely to the people working there in hope of getting my interview done...she said since I am applying for non-restricted I dont need an interview? Is this true or complete bs?

I swear as soon as these people find out your young (18) they start not giving a #### about information.

I am pretty sure that is the case (no interview)

What is your first purchase going to be?

Sweet, licence issued! And first post! I've been lurking here for awhile, thoroughly enjoying the forum, and thought I'd join in now that I'm finally (almost) a firearm owner.

My PAL/RPAL time line:

2010/8/? - CFSC passed, then delayed mailing due to other priorities, not sure what I was thinking!
2010/10/19 - App mailed
2010/10/25 - App received at CFC
2010/11/19 - CFC called me for interview, references were called same day
2010/11/22 - Online status changed to licence issued

28 days on the nose, not bad. I only called in once around week 1.5, to ask why it wasn't online yet and then it showed up a few days later.

And it was my birthday yesterday, how's that for timing :).

Brodie, just looking back at the last few pages, so it took almost two weeks for them to mail it to BC? Maybe the mail moves slower when it's cold?!

I ended up buying my first 2 guns without the card. The BC CFO was great. It was my first purchase and both were restricted. They approved my LTATT and transfer in one day, couldn't ask for any better service from all the RCMP staff, I'm impressed so far.

I feel like I'm a kid again, impatiently waiting to get my Ghostbusters backback and trap!:D

D BROWN signed for my application on Nov18th (says CP). It isnt showing as in the system @ RCMP!:(

"We do not have any information that matches this data. If the data is correct please check your application status again at a later date."

Curious to when my 28 days actually starts. The day they sign for it, or the day I see it in their system. All kidding aside I am patient but very excited!
!!EDIT!!"The 28 day waiting period starts from the date the application is received by the CFC, not the date it appears online." Re-read the initial post.

Interview with CFP RCMP Miramichi

From past episodes, my faithful (and showing-good-taste) readers know, that my previously missing and then delayed CRFSC stamped result was finally found and faxed to Miramichi yesterday, Monday the 22nd. I called them yesterday just before the end of the working day and they said that this last bit of data had not been entered into the system yet.

No problem, I'll call them first thing Tuesday morning.
I wake up, dress have a cup of coffee and get this tremendous pain in the right-side of the chest. Like a huge and powerful fist grabbing and squeezing the whole upper-right quadrant.

My heart had always been alright (up to now). I quit smoking on 2002/02/02 and I restarted swimming (seriously) and going to the gym. But a pain like this one (and it was a stronger repeat of a similar episode which I had shrugged off) was no joke said my girlfriend, so: 911

At the emergency ward, blood test and ECG and the doctor says, "I'll keep you for another blood test eight hours from now."

So there I was and I hadn't even brought a book or an e-book.

So what do I do? I ask the security guard to look up the CFC's 800 number (my memory is not what it used to be. The 800 part is easy and so is the 4000 part. I had forgotten the components and order of the middle three digits) It was 731. I had been thinking 231, 432, 734 and thankfully I didn't dial from (poor) memory. And now that I think of it I should have remembered the 731 since my work number is ### 731 ###x

Anyway, I did my interview.
They just repeated all the questions of the application, reminding you at the start of the interview that you had to be truthful and that all info was subject to be checked out. No problem.

and to end the day, all tests proved negative. It wasn't my heart but they do NOT know what the H*** it could have been. Not an indigestion; my last meal before this "attack" had been about 12 hours before (last night's dinner.)

Any way: Interview 1 (me) done.
I've asked my 2nd reference to call in (tomorrow)
My 1st refrence, my brother, is away in Egypt until the end of the month.
Miramichi have his numbers in Egypt however I very much doubt that they'll remember that Egypt is seven hours ahead of us here in Ottawa (OK, six hours for New Brunswick).
So, another period of "wait and see" and hope to have my would-be-birthday-present-to-myself transformed into a Christmas-present-to-self...........

I called in today and did my interview. Then 1 of my references called in as well. My other reference is going to call in tomorrow. My waiting period is up all ready so this is the final step.

Looks like you overtook me for second place

..... since my first reference will call in tomorrow, while my 2nd reference is spending three weeks (10 days left) vacationing in Egypt (unless the CFP calls him long-distance as they promised they would.)

Where is Magnum PE in this race? He was ahead........
