Shorten PAL Approval Times

I live in Ontario. I just got the "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks...". Does this really mean what it says or is there another black hole my app goes to with the Ontario CFO? I am I really getting my RPAL card the the mail in two weeks?

One more thing, if I call the Ontario CFO will they actually be able to tell me my license number?

Pinch me if I am dreaming...

Congrats!!!!
Well its the end of the tunnel.......kinda lol! now you have to wait for firearms transfers, LTATT think of the Rpal wait time as "practice"
As for the Rpal number they used to give it to you over the phone although most retailers need to see the card unless its a purchase online that you have made.

Strange! isn't it?

Do you guys know where i can call and follow up on my exam results in Quebec?

I got my card (certificate of safety and hunting courses) on the mail today (hunting course on 9th June and Safety course on 14th June) but they put the date of birth wrong on the card!!!!! I called them and an agent said they will send me a new card withing 7-10 days....

The statues of PAL after 2 days or being started processing is not available online yet....

Well got my card in the mail yesterday! March 9/10 to June 26th from course to the finish line (PAL/RPAL). My card wasn't even 6 hours in my wallet bought a safe, two rifles and some ammo. :)

Mailed my PAL/RPAL in on 13 of May regular letter mail.
Called at week 4,5,6,7 on 26 of June they said it was partially entered into the system (still not online though). They said likely ready for interviews sometime next week.
27 of June my cheque was cashed for the fee.
At least I know my app wasn't lost in the mail.

When I fax in my test results do I need to add anything to it so they know what application it belongs to?

By the time you do that your app should be in the system.. and you should have a file #.. Just write that in the margin and call them to let them know it is being sent and to confirm it arrived intact once sent. That way no BS can be pulled about "not getting it" etc.

yes, just waiting on the application to appear online

Call them back.. ask for a supervisor.. and then fax them in attn to that supervisor asap.. that way you have proof it has been done. And then you can raise more hell with MP/MPPs etc over the pathetic artificially induced delays within the system which is anything but acceptable.

So good news guys!

April 17th- app received in Miramichi
May 20th- Showed online
May 20th-june 20th Called everyday
June 26- Got fed up so i called the CFO directly, found out what officer had my app, called that officer, was polite, asked for her to take a look at my app, she said okie dokie, aproved me on the spot and gave me my card number.

BOOM! Done. Don't be afraid to call and call and expedite the process. Good luck to all you others!

CONGRATS! feels good showing the card for the first time doesnt it? , kinda like being asked by lcbo staff for ID lol! Problem is its an addictive feeling :)

So this is how it went for me

March 26 - Mailed Safety course certs to Ontario CFO
May 7 - Received stamped certs from CFO (42 days)
May 7 - Mailed RPAL application to Miramichi
May 10 - Miramichi received RPAL application
June 20 - Finally showed up as Completed initial processing. It is now in progress. (41 days)
June 21 - Called to check status. Was told photo needs to be scanned.
June 26 - Called photo was done, did my interview. 2 References called did their interviews. License issued!! (47 days)

95 days total since I did my safety course (which I also had to wait 6 weeks to get in). Since I am in Ontario, I guess I could have sent my application to Miramichi without the stamped safety certs but I didn't want to introduce another complications like papers getting misplaced.

Man, when I see the envelope in the mail box, I will do my best happy dance ever :dancingbanana:

Like others have said it pays to call and be polite. This was a new PAL application.
April 10-received at CFC
April 18-showed up online
April 29 -initial processing complete, updated online
May 30 -called CFC, was told they were backlogged and expect to wait
June 12-called CFC, application had been sent to Ontario CFO 2 weeks ealier
June 28-called Ontario CFO, was directed to the woman handling my application....issued within 2 minutes and updated online.
I should get my card within 2 weeks. Total time since the CFC received it until issued...78 days
I took the course March 1st and 2nd of this year so....117 days total.

Talked to CFC today.

Application was received 2 weeks ago.
Not entered in the system yet. Was told 2 more weeks before that would be done. Then another 6-7 weeks for "processing".

Just getting to talk to a live body took 3 days...

Had my PAL for 14 years upgrading to an RPAL living in BC. They received my app on may 6 been calling 1-2 times a week for the last month, it actually took them 30 days to start processing the app. I still can't get my interview done typical response is call back next week. Which they just said again. It's getting very frustrating and hard to be polite while talking on the phone to them. At this rate it feels like its going to be another month before I see anything in the mail.

Here is the history of my application to date:

May 01 - Mailed application
May 06 - Received in Miramichi
June 11 - Posted online
June 20 - Called in to ensure no errors or missing info
June 24 - Interview completed

Yes!

June 28 - Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)
