Shorten PAL Approval Times

i agree with sveinn84. it took that long before it showed up as even in their system and then it took 4 months from then to get approved. but each province is different i think. i saw people from BC get their approved in 28 days!

good luck dark_1

I am in ontario :) took 4 months from the time they got it into their system. so really that, plus the 28 days, plus the initial 2 weeks to get the letter from the cfo originally to say i took the course.

Corrected for you.

When I spoke to them on the phone last week it was suggested that they were about 3 weeks behind in opening the mail (eek- vacation time? dunno)
Perhaps that scenario is the more applicable factor?.

In order:

#1 Not true.. they only need the #.. period.

#2 also not true.. since that would be dependent on if it is in storage/use/transport/use at the particular time.

Hmm,well cabelas website asked for the expiry on checkout... never tried to type in my license # to see if it would let me skip the expiry, but that's ok... I just bought I nice rifle in store and will wait until I get my card in the mail... the wait is killing me, lol.

Thanks for the reply

That is crap from Cabelas.. it's not law.. and the proper response to that is calling them and telling them flat out it is not legally required.. so either you skip it or I take my $ elsewhere.. and $ is what they care about in the end.

As for your purchase... email them etc and let them know you did so to avoid their BS.

My PAL was approved today!!!! 31 days after it was received. I am so happy and can will finally be able to buy my own guns and ammo. If you are still waiting just hang in there, and if your application doesn't appear online don't get discouraged, mine wasn't online until last week and it had already completed initial processing.

Unfortunately I live in Ontario
I received my PAL last year

The beginning of this May, I completed my RPAL course

My test results were not returned to me until June 2nd

I mailed my Application on that day

On 7/9 my reference called in

8/19 Application Still sitting in a pile waiting final approval by CFO ON
Checked today online --> Same
So basically it will take take over 120 days - b4 I receive it
