Shorten PAL Approval Times

I think the key thing is not necessarily the speed but improving the dispersal of information on the application status. My reference got his PAL about 10 years ago and it took 6 months from application submission to getting his license in the mail.

On Thursday I was told not ready call back in two weeks, today after seeing rikkards got his reference to call today and knowing they received mine 6 days prior to his I called back and sure enough they were ready (day 61). Reference called back quickly but status hasn't changed online, guessing a few more days like a few of the others recently.

I've decided I'm going to document the timeline of the entire process including how long it will take to get ATT's for the two handguns waiting to be picked up at the range. I'm then going to write a letter to my MP and ask him if he feels that this is a reasonable process to require of a law abiding citizen looking to take up a legal hobby and spend thousands of dollars supporting the economy in his riding?

RPAL application. Arrived January 19, 2015 and went up today with payment processed on my credit card. Now the wait continues. Do I buy a bow or do I just save my money for the big day and keep firing the 10 meter air pistol. So many decisions. Like sand through the hour glass these are days of my PAL.

Hmmm. My RPAL application was recieved same day, not online yet. I'll be watching your progress.

The worst part for me is I purchased two firearms weeks ago, and not being able to have them for another week or two is brutal.

thats very common trouble, I guess :)
having gun safe full of rifles and pile of ammo waiting for me in neighbour's basement.

Reference called in yesterday. Called in today to see if I need to provide anything else. She said they just have to scan my picture and send it off to the provincial CFO. How long does it usually take before it will show online as approved on average. A few days, a week?

For me that took 4 days.

My reference called in last wednesday afternoon. Still "in progress", in fact I called about a different matter the other day and she said "oh, you're RPAL is still a long way from being approved."

Mine is at the same stage for a month and counting.

My references called in January 8th, my application has been at the manitoba cfo's for a couple weeks now, I don't have a criminal record, I wonder why it's taking so long. They've had my applications since the end of October, with the test results and payment also. This is frustrating. They're acting like there are hundreds of applicants. I wish they could give me an excuse besides "we're busy", I've called once since I was told it was at the manitoba cfo, it's like they don't have computers and they can't look up my info in a matter of hours.

Guy I talked to yesterday said if I don't have the license in hand by end of month to give them a call. I have read you should have it within 2 weeks by now. Buddy 6 months ago had it in a week

Got 3 kids, and every time my wife could not wait till they were born, counted weeks, counted days. She is now making lots of sarcastic jokes about me waiting for damned pink card.

Just sent in my application, a so called boring one where each answer was a no, and well see how long this entire process takes. 20 year old "boring" male from Ontario with no crim record and no past screw-ups haha. Ill let you guys know on what happens in the near future of 28 days, which is when I'm expecting the application to show up online. Wish me luck! :dancingbanana:
