Shorten PAL Approval Times

CFC told me just one reference need to be called, and we are in same boat now.I am in Surrey BC,very close to THAT CFO.

That's strange, I've always been told that both references need to be called + a personal interview for RPAL. Does "under review" mean that it's close to being approved? CFO lady had the enthusiasm of a dying bat, would not recommend.

Nothing can do, just wait. 70 days already

Myself I was not interviewed for RPAL, and only one reference was interviewed. This appears to be typical of most applications.

Guys, I just called Miramichi to advise that my application (RPAL) is not visible online, although it was signed for on May 14th, 2015. The nice lady said that due to the number of applications, it will be 4 to 6 weeks before processing begins. She advised I watch my online banking, to see when the charge goes on my credit card. Then, she advised that one of my references could call in, no sooner than 3 weeks after that. She told me to expect a 3 month wait total................:(

Irony??...........One day after I call, this shows up online, "Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date." :)

Hello Everyone! First post here.

Ontario: PAL/RPAL

March 28,29 - Courses taken
April 23rd - Results back and stamped by CFO
April 24th- Mailed to CFC
April 29th - Received by CFC
May 21st - Application online
May 27th - First call to check on application - all good. Told to wait a week or 2 and call in again
June 3rd (today) - Reference called in, and was told " not ready for reference, as not all data is in their system ".

Despite it being past the " 28 days ". Shouldn't all the data already been inputted?

I'm confused here.

It's normal. they won't do anything during the 28 day waiting period, and it may take a coupe of weeks after that before they even start to process your application. Before you tell your references to call in, I think you'd better confirm with rcmp that they are ready to accept calls from your references first.

Day 116 of RPAL adventure

Called in to BC cfo, "under review", no additional info. One of my references was called, but not the other (yet).

Has someone dropped the ball, or is this just normal?

Technically in all provinces (except Quebec), they need to call only one reference. Well that's what I have been reading in this thread over the past few months.

In Quebec, they still call both references. Myself and all my friends had both of our references called + Personal interview.

I know this is probably easier said than done for most people, my biggest thing was not to over call or rush them! I took my RPAL courses around Feburary, recieved my papers after being sent out for stampage around late March, tossed it all in the mail in early early april(got lazy) it was online 28 days later. Decided I would phone in yesterday to ask if their was a delay on my account(totally BSing) Buddy said all he needed to do was hear from my refrences.. Well so happened I was with both at the current time. He asked them to leave the room I was in with them and bam 5 minutes later it has been approved and issued. Whole process for me took about 4 1/2 months. Best thing in my honest opinion that you can do is try to forget about the application for a few weeks so time doesn't seem like it's standing still. But definitely phone in about a month or so once it's been online. The man I spoke with was awesome!
Hope everyone gets theirs soon if YALL been waiting! Once it comes in the mail grabbing a 22 to learn on then a 12 gauge for duck season in September! Happy shooting.

Called them this afternoon and officer on the phone said we are still working on clearing a backlog and it is taking at least 6-8 weeks to start working on a new application. Day 50 today and she still say check back within 2-3 weeks.

Waiting is so not cool :(

Hi Everyone - first time posting

Ontario: PAL

November 2014 - Courses taken
Early February 2015 - Mailed to CFC with course completion stamped by CFO
Ferburary 13th - Received to CFC
March 10th - Showed up online saying "completed initial processing"

May 15th - Status still the same, Called CFC, was advised application is with CFO and to wait longer
June 5th (today) - Called CFC again, was told application was still with the CFO

It's been almost 4 months since date CFC received, and this is just for a PAL - any suggestions? I had to answer "yes" for loosing employment in the last 2 years, but as of now, I would have been able to answer No since it has now been longer than 2 years... could this be the reason it's taking this long? any suggestions?

Saskatchewan, RPAL application.

Mailed in February
Listed as received on March 3, was missing info.
Missing info was received by them on March 23.
May 7th my reference was contacted.
Called on Friday May 29th for an update, was told to call back in a week, called back today, Friday June 5th, told it will be at least a month or two.

Getting frustrated and after reading more of this thread I tried calling the CFO directly, was on hold for nearly 30 minutes, someone answered (not the CFO) and basically told me that 90 days isn't that long right now, but my application will be flagged as me wanting an update on it. Back to waiting and updating the most frustratingly vague and useless website I have ever used.

I realize this post sounds more bitter than I intended but I did try to be very polite and friendly when I called.
