Just because it arrived in Mirimichi, doesn't mean anything. They won't look at it for about a month, once you see a status update on their website then you'll know you're in the home stretch. Just watch for you credit card to be billed, that's when you'll know that the paper work is being processed and you should receive a call in a few days.

For example, this was my timeline:

Applying from Toronto, Ontario

CFSC course completed: September 26
CRFSC course completed: September 27
Test results sent in to CFO: September 28
CFSC & CRFSC Certificates processed by CFO - ONT: October 13
CFSC & CRFSC Certificates received from CFO - ONT: October 19 (5pm)
Application for PAL/RPAL Xpresspost from Toronto: Monday, October 19 (6pm)
Application for PAL/RPAL sent from Toronto, ON to Miramichi, NB: Friday, October 23 (2pm)

Application Received on: 2015/10/23
Credit Card processed: Thursday, November 18th
Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

Reference Interviewed: Monday, November 23rd.
RPAL Issued: Monday, November 23rd.
Received in the mail: Monday, November 30th

Three weeks from the time the application was received I got this message:
"Your application has been received. It is currently being processed. You have been, or will be contacted either by phone or by mail for
additional information. Please check the status again at a later date."

Does anyone know if this is standard and will they necessarily call me?

You should call them now ask if they need anything and then get a reference number use that number to have your references call in

I'm in Southern Alberta as well.

Took my PAL course January 9th, 2016
They received my Application on January 15th, 2016

It's up on the website now and has been for about a week, initial processing done. I'm thinking I'll give them a call at the end of this week just to make sure they have every thing they need.

UPDATE:

Just checked the website:
Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your license within 2 weeks please contact the Canadian Firearms Program Toll Free number.

So that process was 4 weeks from the time they received it.

Edit to add: I asked my two references if they were contacted by the RCMP and apparently no one called them.

RCMP, as of today, has my paperwork. So I should wait about 4 weeks & then check site to see what's going on??

That's right. I hope you sent it express so you know when your date starts. You can continue to check the website. The moment you see it on the site call and get your references to call

Alberta. Rpal upgrade from pal.

Jan 11 - application arrives Miramichi.
Feb 2 - appears on website.
Feb 4 - have a reference call in.
Feb 9 - approved and mailed.

Feb 18 - in my hand. After long Canada Post trip.

Not too bad I figure.

Hey guys, so I've taken all your advise and waited for the process to continue. Today something odd happened however and I'm not sure if it's typical or just unique to my situation. I'm in Ontario and I received an email today from an AFO requesting an in person interview. I have replied with a date the meets the available times but I'm not sure what to expect from this. Has anyone else experienced this process? Thanks again to all in advance. Just to be clear only asking if this type of request is normal. I thought interviews were done over the phone.

Nice!
I'm going on 90 days now, mailed in nov 17th, arrived 23rd. Called reference and then sent to Alberta cfo right before Christmas and it's been sitting ever since. Tried calling several times and they just say "oh that's normal"

Mailed in my PAL/RPAL application on February 10, 2016 via regular Canada post mail. From Toronto how long does it take for the CFC to receive it then post my information on their online check-in page?

Regular mail. That was probably a mistake. There's no way to know how long it will take, could be a week or more. You should have done priority. But can't fix it now, the waiting will be harder to pin down because you won't know the date they received it until it's on the website which is almost four weeks from when they receive it
