Shorten PAL Approval Times

So if I sent mine in on the 6th my form should be going into the system anytime now right?

Did your application RECEIVED at Sep 6th? If yes, you might want to call to make sure they received it and there is no information missing.
The lady on the phone is the nicest one I ever meet; and she said because the volume of incoming mails vary day by day, so the time line is not very accuracy to forecast for future days.

This is why it is very important to send application via REGISTERED MAIL as indicated in the sticky. That way it has to be signed for and you can check when it arrived via the tracking number on the Canada Post website. When it is signed for is when your 28 day waiting period starts and also, if you don't see it online within say a week or so, you can refer to your tracking info when you call them to ask about it and let them know the day it was received.

Dammit, so pretty much even though it doesn't show up right now it could still be in the middle of the 28 day waiting process. Right?

It could be, but without knowing what day it arrived for sure you will just be guessing. If you sent it in on the 6th it likely didn't get their until the 10th at the earliest depending on where you live. I know it took mine exactly 1 week to show up online from day it was received and it took 4 days to get there. So in total it took 11 days from day I mailed it to day it showed up online. But again, it varies with the amount of mail they get.

Pretty sure there is no other number to call other than the CFP number. What I would do is keep checking online for the next week or 2 and see if it shows up (it should be there soon). If it doesn't show up in 2 weeks then call again. But like I said, without tracking info, you are pretty much playing the waiting game at this point.

Yea a buddy told me bout the registered mail knew I screwed up when I didn't sent it in as regisgered. Anyways thanks a lot for your help, hope I get it soon!

Mp has done nothing so far. Hasn't even responded. I'm also convinced the CFO reads these forms on a regular basis for info they could just call to get. Lol The similarities in the stories are just to similar to be true.

Start calling your MP's office every day to follow up on whether they've looked into your request. Follow that up by calling the RCMP every day to inquire about your application. If you get the runaround, ask to be transferred to a superior, and see if they can give you any additional insight.

If I were in your position, I would spend too much of my time being the biggest pain in as many butts as I can. Find email addresses and mailing addresses for everyone from your MP, your Premier, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of the RCMP, and our PM. Send them all the same letter about the experience you're having. Send it multiple times. All it takes is one of those offices to make a move and apply the right pressure and you could be on your way.

Make waves - being annoying isn't a valid cause for denial of a PAL.

I sent in my application without any safety course results. My 28 day waiting period even elapsed before I got the results. When I sent them in, my reference called the next day, and my licence was approved within minutes of the call. I fail to see how staffing issues can result in me having 1 day processing turnarounds and you having to wait 200+ days, even if we're in different provinces (I'm in Ontario).

The RCMP "service standards" indicate 45 days for a new PAL and they should be held accountable for failing those standards by over 400%. I'd get fired if I performed like that at work. Personally, I would play the fraud card and say that you paid them to issue or deny you a PAL and until they do one of those things, you feel you've been a victim of fraud. You can't win something like that in court but fraud is certainly an F word that will get people's attention in a way that they can't dismiss you as being vulgar.

That's just my $0.50 on the matter, but I'm a very particular kind of b@$t@rd.

heres an update on my application, it's been in the processing stage since wed, just called and I had missed a question, however they wouldn't allow me to fill it in over the phone, so they have already mailed it back to me and I need to fill that one question in, and send it back. sigh....

I'm in Ontario and the online application is finally processing after 3 weeks. I haven't sent in my CFSC stamped results yet. I just got those. How do I send that in? Can I email, fax or snail mail?

So lets see if I understand this correctly, I sent out my application today. :p

1 ) Send out application with Registered Mail
2 ) Call in the Firearms dept of the RCMP in Miramichi a day of two after the tracking says that it was delivered, ask for the application number/app ref so one of my references can call in.
3 ) Wait 27 days for the application to be sent out to the CFO
4 ) CFO gets my app for final approval
5 ) Profit?

I would wait til you get your letter in mail. Usually 10 days. Once you get that letter you can fax the letter and your results back to them, (fax number is on the letter). Usually the next business day your status will change to "in progress" and what that means is you are waiting out your 28 days. Otherwise you can call in and ask for the fax number and they will likely tell you to put the application reference number on cover page when you send in your results.

I would give it about a week after it shows that it was received in Miramichi in order for it show up online. Calling a day or two after it gets their likely won't help as they have quite a few applications to get online. Just be assured that the day it shows up there is the day your 28 days start.

I assume you are applying for RPAL if you will be asking about references calling in? From what I gathered when I called, if it's just a PAL then they do not contact references.
