Shorten PAL Approval Times

I've been getting that error all day too. When I called to bug them about the institutionalized discouragement, I told them their 10-year-old website was down.

Thanks man! I though it was my end, tried with different PC and laptops plus iPhone all end up the same way.
I think they need to hire better IT service to run their server!!

Took my restricted course on October 25th, upgrading from PAL to RPAL. Passed the course, but I have not received my stamped results from Orillia yet (ontario). My buddy took the same course I did on the same day and he hasnt gotten his back either. Does anyone know if the Ontario CFO has a backlog for stamping course reports? When I took my PAL course, I got my results back in less than a month. It's been 7 weeks, and I have not received them yet. Any advice? Appreciate it.

It took a little over 9 weeks from the end of my course until my stamped results showed up in the mail. Getting my PAL/RPAL was quicker!

Well today is my 30 days since Miramichi received my app.
Called in and nice lady checked and said they have backed up for 5-6 weeks.
All my hopes to get my Lifense before the Boxing Day just went down to the draine.

I guess I have to get sued to it .... wait...... and wait next yers’ on sale season.

Hell, I was hoping to get mine in March, in time for my birthday, and that doesn't seem likely either.

What's really frustrating is my info isn't up on the website yet either.

I don't ever recall that I am so happy to see my credicard being charged by a "vendor" ..... RCMP

40 days to get into the system and being charged!
Let's see if I get approved tomorrow lol

Congrats! Mine took over 2 months from start to finish. And Merry Christmas!

In 2016-2017 only 1% of all applications were not completed within the service standard of 45 days. The completion rates have improved over time. Some people, like yourself, are going to be part of the 1% that get delayed for whatever reason. It's the nature of any system that depends upon individual application review.

Beyond sites like this, I can't find much of anything informational online anywhere. I'd love to see some real stats! out of curiosity, where did you get that percentage from?

pal/rpal courses completed Sept 30/Oct 1
mailed paperwork to miramichi - tracked arrived Oct 11
app. info showed up online dec 11
status change - PAL/RPAL approved dec 27

wife/references not called

Hey Newf! Just curious, what province are you in? I am in ON, RPAL logged in august 14th 2017. My last call was back in early Nov, told they are backed up 1-2 months to assign to CFO. If anyone has any other insights, please share. I think I will call and fax if I don't see a change in the system by next week- the five month mark....

You should be aware that according to the CFP the clock doesn't start on the 45 days until the application is complete. Meaning if you forget a photo, or forget to check a box, and the application is not fully completed, it can sit on their desk for months, and the 45 days won't even have started.

Its the same methodology they use for ATC applications. They don't have to refuse to issue you one until you submit a completed application, but its virtually impossible for you to actually gather all the documentation that they ask for.

Here’s my RPAL timeline for those interested!

Sent the application in Sept. 11th “Received” Sept. 14th

Called and was told it was in progress (despite not showing up online) Oct. 14th

Appeared online and CC charged mid-November

Called and was told it was with the CFO and the last step was for references to be contacted on Dec. 14th

Reference 1 as well as myself contacted Jan. 4th

Reference 2 contacted and license issued same day Jan. 8th

So altogether about 4 months, not too bad! And I must say the process for me was very smooth and every call I made was answered with helpful information about my application, job well done by the CFP and the Quebec CFO

Now to think of what I’ll buy first!

Congratulations!

I checked a box, still waiting. Found out yesterday that my app was a the area FO, so left message with him. While the wait has been long (5 months so far), at least they are actually checking on things. Shouldn't be too much longer now. The reason for my checking the box was very benign, but hey, I suppose better to be honest. I guess I am part of the 1%... LOL!!

I also had to check a box, and my application was also referred to local FO (London,ON area). I had a charge and he asked me the detail of it, and contacted my wife. I got my license in a little under nine months from the day I mailed it, which really sucked but I was just happy to get it.
