Shorten PAL Approval Times

So here's a weird question - i've called 3 times, once to provide a credit card payment, once to be told to wait a week, now to tell my references to call in.

I've never been "Interviewed" -- unless you count basically asking me the questions on my application -- did I miss something?

I was never "Interviewed" either. I guess it only happens to some people for certain reasons mainly? And when I spoke to them regarding when I could get my references to call in, they did mention that I only needed to get one of my references to call in.

That is terrible!! I called them every Monday getting an update on my RPAL. Every time I called my status would change on the website. I would hate to see how long it would have taken if I had not contacted them weekly. I was out of the country for 10 days on Vacation, otherwise I may have had it in my hands already. Have you been in contact with them?

Yes just talked to them Monday. Then it's been two weeks since they talk to references. She said check in 3 weeks and see, if nothing they will look into it.

Application for PAL/RPAL - ON

- Received: Feb 25
- Showed online and CC charged: Mar 19
- Called in to check everything OK: Mar 20, told reference can call in
- Ref called: Mar 20

Has anyone else been told they are ready for references the day after the application shows up online?

Have no idea how the system honestly works, some people seem to get put through fairly quick then there are those like myself that are being told they are so far behind that will be lucky to see any updates by the 50 or 60 day mark. guess its just a roll of the dice! LOL

Right so that's a standard answer. Be very kind, call weekly for updates....

That's crazy. Apparently mine is being forwarded to the CFO for approval so we will see how long it sits with them.

Got my card in the mail today so I went out and bought a used Ithaca 37 featherlite 12g and also a brand new Browning BPS :))

UPDATE:

They received my application 2015/01/26

I called them the next day to verify they got it and it had picture and all needed documentation and that payment was processed, they confimed I was good to go as far as needed info.

I had references(both of them) call in first week of Feb.

Was issued yesterday and is in the mail I should have it next week or week after. Will post final update when its actually in my hands!

EDIT TO ADD: this was for my PAL and RPAL

Received today, less than 2 months time they received my info to license in hand.

hey guys
Here is my procedure:
application sent and received on Feb 4 ( I didn't call, the web status showed up after one week when I checked).
After 28 days I called the first time, and they told me reference can call in (just one needed).
A week later (Mar,18), web status says my PAL issued.

It took just about 45 days as it mentions on the web page. My friend also got his PAL issued and took the same days for process.

Mine is well over 90 days now from received in Miramichi to in hand. Was approved and mailed out March 13 so should be here soon but they received it December 16. They really are all over the place.

When I was about to go through a vulnerable sector check for volunteering, I was told that they use your date of birth for background checks. If ANYBODY with the same birthday as you has been caught being naughty, it triggers further manual investigation.

It kinda sounds ridiculous now that I've typed it out, but that's what I was told. Perhaps that's what's holding up some people's applications.

Called in around 11:30 this morning and I was very polite and happy to hear that everything looked good and that by what she could see is all they need to do is scan my pic. Of course I was told to call back in a week but it was better news than what I was expecting.

Can't say in regards to PAL approvals but I work in an industry that requires an updated Criminal Record Check as well as Vulnerable Sector check every two years and I know for fact that here in Manitoba if any convicted pedophile has the same birthdate as you then your simple $30 record check becomes something along the lines of $100 and requires sending your fingerprints to the RCMP. [sarcasm]Good news though the RCMP advises they destroy your prints once they verify your identity. [/sarcasm]

2015/03/19: Called in and be told by the CFC information officer that my application was transferred to the provincial CFO for final review and approval on March 18, and this final step needs a couple of days or weeks.
Till today, the online status didn't change, still in progress.

I asked to speak to provincial CFO on my second call, but the CFC officer refused me politely and told me no information and document are needed to add, so the only thing I can do now is waiting.

Who knows how I can pass the CFC information officer and speak to the provincial CFO through the 1-800 phone? Thanks.

2015/03/23: Showed online
2015/03/23: Called to make sure everything was in order

I called this morning not realizing it had just showed up online (wasn't online last night). The guy I talked to was extremely friendly, confirmed some my information, and said everything appeared to be fine. At first he said to call back in 3 weeks, then I told him to have a good day as I was signing off and he said "You know what, call back early in the week after Easter". Not a huge improvement, but interesting to hear the change within a couple of sentences.
