Shorten PAL Approval Times

Woot! PAL/RPAL issued in the last few days! About 50 days processing time in total.

Now I get to experience the joy of waiting for my first restricted transfer, ATT, etc. :(

Buy from Frontier. My first restricted (and then the second restricted again from them) took exactly 1 day + 3 days to get to my door in Ontario. Both before I even got my PAL card in the mail.

Thanks for the tip. How did you find out your license number before it came in the mail? Is it the same as the application number?

Not the same. I called the CFO a few times until they gave it to me (CFC will not give it to you because of privacy laws). Ext. 7503 if I remember correctly. Read earlier in this thread, I commented on that 1-2 weeks ago.

Sick, Ill have to keep that in mind.

The one benefit to waiting a month for an RPAL is you get to special order whatever you want, so Ive got a Savage 12 VLP DBM .223 1:7" twist for a very reasonable price from Elwood Epps and a grizzly 12.5 tube fed shotgun from Canada Ammo.

Call the CFC.. get xfered to your CFO office and they can give it to you.

(look up in the thread and you can already find this info posted... or use the search function)

How to get your PAL number before the card

Found it d:h:

Dealers require a copy (scan/picture) of both sides of the actual license for ordering online.. not just the # as a rule.

However you can fill in LTATT etc forms now w/your #.

Also note.. for anyone trying to get your # from them over the phone.. they have an insane rule that the CFC is not allowed to give that out over the phone..

Therefore just use the extension you wrote down when doing your interview (you did write it down right?) to xfer to the CFO and they can give it to you.

Just called Ontario CFO, the girl was awesome, got my number and a way we go!

She said my license was mailed out Oct 28th and that I would get it if not today, early next week.

Off to take the Range Safety course tomorrow and Sunday

I bought a firearm at WSS in Calgary prior to receipt of my card, they entered the PAL number online and it went through. The sales rep was surprised but the Alberta CFO told me it would work.
