Shorten PAL Approval Times

hey guys i already have non restricted and i sent my application for R pal today....by registered mail........i been browising few pages but couldnt find any help so my question is long it takes actually to get the plastic because i have my pal for a year now and its just an upgrade. and when can i call them with my refrences. thanks.(i heard that you can call them instead of them calling your references . thanks

Sent out my RPAL application early last week and can't wait! Will be calling them to check if the app was received mid next week...

No 28 day wait and if you lived anywhere but Ont or Que not long at all to get your card but you need to get your tests stamped and then figure out how long it takes to get an ATT.
Best bet is to search threads on here about Ont gun clubs applying for ATTs and you may be able to understand the slow and convoluted process that you face.
Don't hold your breath to long.I have had a FAC and also a POL since 1978.When I decided to upgrade my POL to a Pal I had to wait 10 weeks to get my PAL.Then when I upgraded my PAL to a RPAL they made me wait 15 weeks.All those years having all the proper paper work in place and it would seem that they had figured out that I was hanging with Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson.Oh by the way ,I live in Alberta one of the easier provinces to be a gun owner.
Some agents at the CFC may try and make you wait.
I had a POL, challenged both PAL and RPAL courses Feb. 19th last year and licence was printed 28 days later.
Had one CFC agent tell me that my application was moving too fast so I called back and spoke to someone else.

Hmm, after reading the first post I am unclear on something.
Do all provinces have 'stamped results' that you need to wait for before sending off your application?
Maybe my course instructor was trying to save me time? I was excited - I'd just passed so maybe I was fuzzy
, but I believe I was told to just fill in the application, get the correct photo, put my cheque in etc etc. So I also included one copy of my none retricted results, and one copy of my restricted. Should I be expected 'stamped' ones back from the RCMP at some point?
Kinda confused and don't want to screw things up here :/

If I'm correct, only ON people have to get their results verified by the CFO. Us BC and Albertans can use the sheet we get right after the examiner signed off and use that for our application.

the Stamped ones come back from the Provincial CFO, not the RCMP. Then you mail those test results to Miramichi with you app and photo. Then wait more. After the interviews are done, the app goes back to the Provincial CFO again for final approval. This last step can take up to 45 days on its own.
I passed my Rpal test at the end of March. I've been VERY proactive in speeding them along the entire time by calling in almost daily and having my references call them as soon as my application was at the correct stage, etc. Here we are on August 19, 5 months later and they tell me it should be approved by the Provincial CFO by Sept 7 at the latest.
Ontario sucks.That's almost 6 months from test to lic. for a simple upgrade. My buddy wrote the test with me but his app is 2 weeks behind mine as he didn't call in to check on his progress.
EDIT: too slow on the reply, didn't notice your were lucky enough to not be from Ontario.

Today's a great day. My RPAL arrived, my CZ 452 Varmint riffle was delivered and I'm now off to pickup my Glock 17.

Waiting for this thing to show up in the system is killing me. I sent it July 29th and it still isn't there.
EDIT: Just called and the rep said that the mail sent around the end of the strike came in 2 huge batches and they are only just getting to the 1st week of august deliveries now, which is where mine would reside. Another week and it should show up.

I sent mine in the first week of August. Called last week Friday asking if they had recieved my application as it was not listed on the website. Was told they are a little behind and to call back next week. So next week was today, and again, the operator has told me they are behind. In fact they are only starting to open the mail from the first week of August... so I should call in again next week.
Holy cow... shouldn't this
at least have someone accepting the mail, and adding a "recieved" to the database? At least then you know at has arrived, and then could take it easy for the 45 day wait. Jee wizz they kind of suck...

Mailed in the application to Miramichi on July 30. Called today to check on status and was told to call next week because they have NOT received it yet. WTF. Must be sitting on a desk some place collecting dust. My tax dollars working at a snails pace.

They told me almost a week ago that they were just starting to open the first week of August mail... guessing it didn't happen or its a lie. They can't get just one person to log the mail as it comes in? Who is running this place?
