Shorten PAL Approval Times

I had forgotten to sign the picture I sent in so they sent me a letter and I had to send it back with another signed one. Then my application sat around until I phoned them and at that time finally got phone interview done. I got my references to phone in shortly after. I talked to them again and they said it was with the bc cfo, which was almost to weeks ago now.

How'd you score a license before your interviews?

Hahha oops I thought I had change that over, but I guess I forgot to actually press edit.

Also when your calling local CFO for the pal# how willing are they on providing that info?
I just wanted to see since I would really like to sign up for membership with my pal#

hey everyone, thanks for the tips on this. I was lucky and got my CFSC results back within a week. I sent everything off, and watched. 3 weeks after receiving my application (registered mail), it was posted on the website. I got busy and didn't follow up until about day 33. I called this morning at 9:15, did my interview. My references called in before noon, and at 5:30 this afternoon, it was listed as issued.

No complaints about the system at all here! Everyone was really nice to talk to, and very helpful.

Thanks, I thought they were gonna do a psychoanalysis on me

to me, it seemed like a combination of due diligence (we have to ask this), and assessing HOW I responded, as much as what the response was. In my case, i was asked if I'd lost my job recently. I have not. She gave me a bit of a hard time about this, since I quit my job recently. I explained thoroughly, and she was satisfied with that.

Im hoping my application will appear online sometime this week. If I am only getting my Non-restricted do I still need to call in? I have read in posts that you dont need to. I am hoping to get a nice Christmas present this year so that faster I get my card the better.

you never NEED to call in. It simply speeds up the process- if there are 100 applications this person has to process, and you're at the bottom of the list, you're going to be waiting. If you call, they pull your app. right there and deal with it- once it's in their hands, they might as well just finish it so they don't have to handle it again right? It's all about work flow- if you inject yourself further up in the flow, you get processed faster.

Going to call tomorrow to confirm that everything is in order. All references called in, and I did my interview...status still hasn't changed. Remember to choose your references carefully.

My application is just about one track with yours - my status hasn't changed either. I am day 38 so still within the standard of service.

I must be the odd guy out here, been almost 90 days for mine so far. It's been with the BC CFO for 2 weeks and still says "in progress". I called their office and they said call back in 2 or 3 weeks. Is BC just really back logged?

its funny, cuz i was laid off last winter from my job, got the job back in early summer, put that on app, she asked, no problem with explanation that i was back at it.

Ok, so what am I missing here?

My app was received 2 weeks ago and hasn't appeared online yet. When I call in, they just say "if it isn't online there's nothing they can do".

you're missing about a week. It takes about 22 days to appear online. Once you're online, give it a week and you/your refs call in for your interviews.

Timeline for my RPAL app:

Passed safety courses: 10/02/11
Application sent via Xpress Post: 10/05/11
Received at CFC: 10/11/11
Application "In Progress": 10/26/11
Interviews Done: 10/26/11
App @ CFO Office: 10/31/11
Approved by CFO: 10/31/11

It really does help to keep calling the CFC and CFO. Last week I was waiting for my picture to be scanned. This morning I called the CFC, they confirmed the picture was scanned and they forwarded the application to the CFO. 1 hour later I got through to the CFO's office, and they approved my application right then and there and forwarded it back to the CFC for printing.
