Shorten PAL Approval Times

Like others have said at least you know what's the hold up. If things aren't 100% normal you can expect a delay.

I should expect what, 10 days from receipt at Miramichi before it shows on their system? How/What website do I use to check on the status?

Replace the x's with https

If it says your license has been issued you can expect to get it within 2 weeks..... and yes... they wont be able to track it until they do initial processing which is about 10 days....

In Ontario the CFO prints all PAL's for the week on a Thursday and they are mailed out on the Friday. With any luck your PAL should be printed tomorrow, mail Friday and you should receive it in the mail next Wednesday. Mine was deliver on a Wednesday - on my birthday. :D
 
License issued!

My complete timeline:

Passed courses: 8/30
Received stamped copies from Ontario CFO: 9/15
Sent application in: 9/22
Received at CFC: 9/26
Shows on CFC site: 10/14
Payment processed: 10/18
Interview completed: 10/24
Second reference interviewed: 10/26
Status updated to license issued: 11/2

Calling in AFTER the references went through made a difference. After dialing the extension-to-nobody's-mailbox via the CFC 800 number, I called the CFO (Ontario) on their 705 number. Someboy picked up on the 2nd ring, said my file hadn't been assigned yet and said she would assign it. Got approved less than 2 hours later.

Oh no, my application just got there. I haven't been called yet or anything (RPAL). I figure if I get it before Christmas it's good. I'm in no rush, but this thread has been very informative so I posted related questions here. I'll watch the credit card for the deduction too.

They actually backdate it to when they receive it.... in other words, they may only do the initial processing on say November 10th but when they do you will see that it says application received October 31st or whatever.... it takes about 45 days from the time they receive to the time they issue

Well guys i just checked and even called since my application wasnt showing. Its been 3 weeks. Appears i didnt put the accent in Montréal...i wrote my application in english with no accent....make sure you dont make typos!
 
Just got good news after checking the CFC/RCMP website for my application status, RPAL has been issued! Yay!

Mailed application Sept. 9th
Recieved Sept. 16th
Interview Oct. 19th
References called in on Oct. 20th & Oct. 25 (ish)
RPAL Issued Nov. 2

Now I just have to wait another week before I get my new licence.

Does anyone have any idea what I am supposed to do with my previous PAL licence? Will my licence number change or stay the same? I guess I'll keep it for backup/reference, since it is still valid until 2016.
 
This morning I decided to check to see if my application was online. Today was the 15th day since they received it. At 8am it wasnt showing online. I decided to check again around 12:15pm. Woo Hoo there it is. "Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date." I gave the 1-800 number call around 3pm and asked the lady if she could give me a status update. She told me that it looks like my application has no errors and there were no notes on my file. She told me that they were waiting for my picture to get scanned then my application would be sent to the CFO for final approval. NICE!! I'm almost there.......

Here's my current timeline

Sept. 24th - Passed safety course
Oct. 14th - Received my results in the mail
Oct. 17th - Application mailed express post
Oct. 19th - Application received
Nov. 3rd - Application "In Progress", called and was told "waiting for picture to be scanned"
 
nightmare timeline

here is my partial nightmare of a timeline. :mad:
Augest 9-10-11 did safety courses recieved the stamped results about a week later. sent all the correct documents via express shipping. package was recieved by CFO on sept 1. now it is November 4 and the site is just now showing that it has completed the initial processing! I have called in multiple times trying to get things moving along but every time I call they say that it is not yet at a stage where I can conduct my interview (last call was 15days ago)
I'm not in a big rush but it seems as the 45 day wait is turning into a lifetime lol. any tricks or tips work well for any other cgn'ers?

Keep calling! They'll get tired of hearing from you, and they'll get you rolling. If you called in before it showed up online, there was probably nothing they could do, now that it's there, be sugar-sweet and ask super nice-like and they'll get you rolling. I waited about a week after it showed up, and I was processed same day.

That's pretty efficient! I'm about 7-9 days behind you (took forever getting signatures). You're applying for a PAL only right?
