Hi All,

Noob from Ontario here as you can probably tell from my post count. Just wanted to thank OP calalta and all who have contributed to this thread. I followed the steps and got my rpal approved in 28 days and had license in hand in 38.

I found that one (polite) call to the CFC line at 1-800-731-4000 inquiring if I had any missing information or mistakes on my application after if was posted went a long ways as Chris (i think was his name) asked if I'd like to do my interview and was quickly connected with an interviewer. After completion of the interview I was told that my references would be contacted shortly or if I preferred I could have them call in following these steps: press 1 for english, 1 for dial by extension, EXT 2533 (this may be different for you). Application number: ###-###-###X. References called in and on day 28 status changed to "Approved".

Sorry for the long post. Good luck and shoot safe all,
ceezed

Received Mar 2nd. Just showed up as "in process" status today. 2.5 weeks.

You probably have another week to wait.

Called in and asked if they received my safety results. Did the interview right there.

My friend called in to do his, my other reference will call in tomorrow. Soooo close!!!

YES!!! finally my licence has been issued (sure it would have been much earlier if it wasn't for my brain fart)
don't know all the dates but it was received on January 19th and issued March 22nd
63 days total take away my stupid mistake and it would have been 28 days shorter

Hi, just wanted to share my loooong and short journey in getting my PAL.

Time Line
Non-restricted firearm safety course: Sept 2009
Restricted firearm safety course: Sept 2009
Got a new GF Oct 2009... money got tight so I put off the application.
Got engaged Dec 2009 so money became "restricted"
Got Married Aug 2010 and money became "prohibited"
She decides to impress me and clean up my home/office and "lost" my folder with my application and course papers.
almost 2 years later she finds the "lost" folder and I was finally able to

mailed my application Feb 10
Application received Feb 16
I was interviewed Mar 8
1st Ref interview Mar 15
2nd Ref Interview March 22
License Approved and in process of printing March 22

Total days in process: 26 + however long it takes to print and mail my card.

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread it really helped me understand the process better and what to expect.

Ontario CFO are being zealous with me.

Courses taken: October 28, 29, 30, 2011
Application Received on: 2011/12/02
I was interviewed December 21
1st Ref interview Jan 11, 2012 only after I called, asked for status, and was advised by a helpful person at RCMP to have my references call in.
2nd Ref Interview Jan 12, 2012

Still waiting for CFO to approve me. I called 2 weeks ago, and the supervisor asked me if there was a rush. She told me it would be at least 3 more weeks, so I'll wait until next week before I check again.

It's been almost 5 months...Maybe I should consider a different hobby! In all seriousness, it is a tad frustrating given my low tollerance for waiting for things to happen, but I'm glad the CFO Ontario is doing their job to ensure they aren't putting a gun in the hands of a criminal. For that, I can wait.

Update from Feb 27 posting, just got off the phone with Miramichi. They haven't listed the application yet and can't even tell me if they received it!
Kinda CONFUSED about one comment from them, I know about the 28 day waiting period but she was telling me it can take up to 60 days to process. Does anyone know the process well enough to tell me?
I filed for an NRPAL and I live in Ontario.

3/23 update: still not even shown online.
Thanks
