Shorten PAL Approval Times

May not get my license because my name was flagged in an incident report with local police. Was never charged, didn't threaten violence or anything... It was a woman who accused me of criminal harassment. Lame.

a friend of mine had his sister call the cops on him for violence and he never got charged because she was a liar. he thought he couldn't get his pal/rpal but it went through without any trouble.

Woooooooo card arrived today!

May 4, 2012 - Mailed R/PAL Application from BC
May 11, 2012 - Firearms center receives application
May 31, 2012 - Application appears online
June 8, 2012 - Licensed Issued
June 18, 2012 - License received in the mail!

Total of 46 days.

The ****, they received mine April 20th, and it's still at the CFO's in BC waiting approval? Had interviews for me, my friend, and father all within a week of that 28 day window. I called the hotline, and she said it was with the CFO pending approval.......

Wait until your online status changes to "Initial processing is complete. In progress." Then call in to do your interview. Did you get your application number on the form they sent you in the mail?

You will have to wait a couple days after that. My GF has been at that for a days now and they won't let her interview.

So my application just showed up online. I will be keeping you all updated, as I have some variables that could make things interesting. Namely, I have an ex-girlfriend that corresponds to their definition of a breakup of a significant relationship, so we'll see how this affects everything. She did not sign the application. I do not have her home address. Also, this is a Québec application for a RPAL. Here goes:

  • 11th of February: Passed CRFSC
  • 25th of February: Passed CFSC
  • 23rd of March: CRFSC and CFSC results on hand (I know, I shouldn't have waited)
  • 26th of March: Sent application via the Sûreté du Québec (In Québec, all applications must be mailed by a police officer. Ergo, they are sent by regulair mail)
  • 2nd of April: Application received (as per CFC)
  • 23rd of April: Application shows up online
  • 23rd of April: File with the provincial CFO
  • 24th of April: Funds cleared
  • 13th of June: Complaint filed with the Québec Ombudsman
  • 15th of June: Complaint accepted by the Québec Ombudsman; they accept to take care of my file
  • 20th of June : Personal interview complete
  • 20th of June: First reference interview complete
  • 20th of June: Second reference interview complete
  • 20th of June: Ex-girlfriend interview complete
  • 20th of June: Québec CFO approval
  • 20th of June: RPAL issued

End is in sight.

Total delay: 79 days

I had to complain to the Québec Ombudsman to get things moving. Full story in French in this thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=767976

:sok2 Wow. 79 days. Did you ever find out what the hold up was?

I haven't heard back from the Ombudsman yet. But when they took on my file, they said that the delay was unreasonable.

The Québec CFO hold-ups seem to be systemic of late, alot of folks complaining about it in the French section of the forum regarding restricted transfers and ATT especially.

time line for my nrpal.
March 10-CFSC
April 23-test results returned
May 7 - app. sent
May 14-recived in Mirimachi
June 4 -posted on line
June 11- Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number.
Exactly 29 days would have been less if I had returned the call on friday.
June-20 Licence recived and in hand
Took a total of 38 day to get it in hand

Called the firearm office today, they said i was approved but i havnt waited the full 28 day waiting peroid. That ends in 2 days. Then my licence will be sent to card printing. He said its usually about 2 weeks to my door from when they recieve it. So will let you guys know when i get it. This was for nonrestricted and restricted at once.

Well, this confirms it, I'm calling the BC CFO tomorrow to find out what the hold up is.

My application was sent in the morning and was there the same day.
I had to drive by the CFC to get to the post office...

Online it says my license has been issued since last week,...but nothing in my mail box yet.

Upgrading to RPal. 28 days from received to issued.

Today's my 29th day since they received my application. Its only non-restricted. I called the centre and they said my file is with Alberta CFO. My status says only initial processing completed. Should I call the CFO directly?

I got my RPAL in 49 days from dropped in the mailbox to in my hand. in BC you don't have to wait for CRFSC papers to go to and come back from CFO like you do in Onterrible. however now the LTATT issues here in BC need to be dealt with someone needs their fingers slapped with a ruler. 4-6 weeks is an unreasonable amount of time to wait for a simple ATT.

Yay! My card got issued yesterday!

My timeline:

April 28/29 Completed & passed R/PAL course
May 22 - FedEX application sent to Miramichi
May 23 - Signed and received in Miramichi
May 24 - Application status now online
June 15 - Status changed to Completed initial process.
June 19 - Interviews completed
June 20 - Application approved and card has been issued.

Just called the BC CFO, didn't get through to anybody and didn't leave a message, called again and after waiting for an agent for a few minutes the line just went dead...

This is some serious BS, my application has been there for 2 friggen MONTHS.

BC CFO, get it together.
