Shorten PAL Approval Times

I live in new brunswick
After I've had the interview, and my references as well..
is it worth contacting the cfo, after a reasonable time has lapsed?

Timeline so far:

Feb 17 - CFSC + CRFSC Challenge
Feb 24 - Application mailed (registered)
Feb 28 - Delivered to Miramichi
Mar 05 - Called CFC to confirm receipt.

I gave the CFC a quick call this morning to verify that they received my application. I was told that it can take 2.5-3 weeks for applications to appear on the tracking site and that they can't actually check anything until it's entered into the system. Apparently they are unusually busy at the moment too...

The waiting game begins!

Probably really busy because a lot of Canadians got the kick in the arse to finally get their license due to all the bans/politics happening in the US right now.
I wanted mine for a while, but I will admit with the stuff going on it prompted me to get it before any more ridiculous restrictions get put in place!

Mine was approved today, should be in the mail in a day or 2.

They only tried calling my references once, then resorted to sending a letter straight away. They disregarded the preferred calling time listed on the application too. I called in, spoke to a VERY NICE lady at the CFC, got my reference number and had them call in. My brother called in today for his interview and it was approved pretty much right after.

They didn't elect to call my wife for an interview; perhaps because she's my only wife and there's not 3 wives listed for the past 2 years :p

So, from Jan 28 receipt to March 5th approved, it's 37 days. Figure a week for shipping the card out and they're pretty close to their target.

Well, contacting the CFO (landline, not 1 800 731 4000!) helped me today. I inquired if they got my application from Miramichi, because the interviews were on Feb,14 and since then I keep hearing that my application is at the CFO for approval. The nice and friendly lady asked if its ok if she puts me on hold for a couple minutes, she has to leave her computer to check it out.I agreed, and 5 minutes later she picked up the phone again and told me that now it is approved and my licence will show up as issued a little later (wich it did)

yep still waiting here for card issue... been a few months....:(

This is extraordinary, isn't it? From what I've gathered here, the variable is the multitude of CFOs across the country. But, once it's been approved and issued, it's out of the CFO's hands. It's back to the CFC for the mechanics of printing and mailing. Shouldn't the kind folks at Miramachi offer an explanation? After all they do say on the site that if it hasn't arrived after two weeks, you should call.

awesome! c'grates

It seems if you are polite you'll eventually get an agent willing to help (there are a few exceptions of course).
I called in last week, and she asked me to hold. Both myself and one of my references were interviewed, my 2nd ref. later that day. (called in)
I'll try and be patient, and wait a little longer but if I haven't heard anything I'll try calling them.
The "status" website has not changed since it was put into the system.

Sent mine in Jan 25th by regular mail. It was recieved Jan 31. Showed up online Feb 23rd. Got a call for the interview yesterday(which showed up as rcmp on call display). They must have called my references either right after that or today. Just checked a few minutes ago and apparently my licence has been issued. After reading how long some people have been waiting on here for theirs to get pushed through I was expecting a much longer wait.

Mailed Jan 25, Received Jan 28, Online Feb 22, Able to call in interviews March 1, Interviews complete March 6, Told it was sent to CFO March 7, but still shows "in processing" online. I thought this would change as soon as interviews were done.

I tried calling earlier today, and if the agent is to be believed it won't show a status change until the cfo rubber stamps it and they get it back in order to print and ship it.

I'm in exact same boat as you are.

That is the process, why the cfo has review everything that was done by the rcmp is beyond me, good luck to all new licensees! the wait is almost over, well kinda :)

THE WAIT WAS EXCRUCIATING.... Maramichi received my app. Dec 24/12. Interviews were completed
by Jan 22. I called every 3rd. day. (and yes, they know how many times you call in) This morning I
got a call and the nice lady from the CFO said she knew that I was obviously very keen, my RPAL was approved
today and she said that she thought I would like to know. Hell ya!!! From the time I wrote the exam- 90 days in total.
Oh well, I have used this time to acquire all the components for reloading, done my research and managed to put
a 9mm on lay-away. Good luck to all. I have a feeling the fun has just begun!

My interviews were completed February 12 and was told the CFO had it on the February 23. No change to the status. Still in progress.

If they are like the call centers I've worked a ticket is created for every call.
Its pretty easy to go over the notes and how many calls.

It was nice of her to call. makes the difference between a good phone agent and a great one.
On average I've probably called once a week, but I've admitedly checked the site more.

Well its almost over... so I guess while the cfo has is I have to be patient a little longer.

Maybe the more you call and bug them, they put notes on your file, to make you wait longer. Deliberately slowing it down because they think your too eager. Maybe they think you need a gun so you can go postal.

Well, the irony is that I live in a household that already owns legal firearms lol
But obviously I want my license so I can own, buy ammo....
