Shorten PAL Approval Times

I sent in my application for PAL/RPAL Xpresspost, and it was received by them on October 2nd. They still have not cashed my cheque, and my application is not yet showing up online. I just received my stamped exam test results in the mail last week, so I am waiting for my application to show up online before I fax in my test results.

Sent mine express post too. Doesn't help get it online faster but at least you know it got there. Based on what people are saying it should show up online between now and mid Nov

Registered letter is just as quick and cheaper.. and still legally gives proof of it's arrival therefore starting the mandatory waiting period. Though with all of the f'in BS from the CFC for delays on everything that does not make much difference anymore.

Update with my timeline for those similar to me...

Application sent via registered mail (expresspost or whatever they call it): Tuesday, Sept. 17
Application received: Monday, Sept. 23
Application online/completed initial processing: Wednesday, Oct. 23
Cheque Cashed: Wednesday, Oct. 23
Called Friday, Oct. 25: No missing info. Not ready for interview. Told to call back in two weeks.
Called Thursday, Oct. 31 (less than one week later): Interview done. References both completed interviews as well; application handed off to BCCFO.
Called Provincial CFO Friday, Nov. 1 (today): Approved over the phone. Printed, issued, and mailed off shortly, to be received in about 2 weeks!

Thanks for all the great info guys, really sped things up for me. All in all my time from app received to issued was only 40 days, and should be in hand within 54 they say...well it's Friday now so probably 57 (starting the two weeks on Monday). Note: This was for a first time RPAL license, and I'm in BC. Now I just have to wait for the card so I can get my 1911 shipped and pay off the rest of my sig to get it moving too :)

Do you have the number for the BC CFO?

been over 100 days for my RPAL since they recieved it in New Brunswick..interviews done, just waiting on CFO

Thank You

The number I was given was 1-800-731-4000 ext. 9530. To be fair they didn't identify themselves as BC CFO but they did approve my pal so I assume the number and extension were correct. I've heard some people having trouble getting through, but for me I was only on hold for 10 minutes or so, another 5 and I was done. Good luck!

Here is my official timeline

September 12 2013: Paperwork received at CFC in Miramichi
October 8 2013: Application status appeared online as being processed
October 15 2013 : Paperwork was processed and was sent to Quebec CFO
November 4 2013: Interviews were done, and status changed to ISSUED 15 minutes later

Total calendar days: 59 days

I called as soon as I saw my credit card was charged by CFC. Then after I called after the 28 days ''cool off'' period to see if my file was completed. It was transfered to QC CFO then I called in order to see if I could speed up my application, for work purposes and November 4th... well I'm done waiting... kind of, still gotta wait for it in the mail :p

RPAL application mailed on August 2.
Called a few times in September and got the call back in two weeks runaround.
Called in late October to do my interview and had my references call in on October 25.
Liscence arrived November 4
94 days elapsed.

Well, today my PAL/RPAL application finally showed up online! A month after they received my application! The weird part is they haven't cashed my cheque yet. I gotta fax in my stamped test results. So how should I go about proceeding with things? Should I wait a bit?

If it's online, fax the results and put your application number on the fax.

On a side note... Did my references 12 days ago. It's been with the CFO since then :/

Here is my story: Sent in form and cheque for PAL renewal on August 14. Cheque cashed Sept. 16. Still waiting. After a trail of phone #'s got a Prince George (BC) number. Guy was easy to deal with and said he would push things along and I should receive my PAL in 2-3 weeks. My birthday is Nov. 20 so chances are I will be illegal for a few days. The web page was a joke and the number I got that helped me came from the local RCMP detachment. The 4000 number from the web page will take you down a menu of one's and two's, the end of which they will say the office is closed and give you the normal business hours which ,of course, they are now closed for. The RCMP are equally frustrated as the web page makes it look like they are in charge. For BC call 250-561-6997 (PG #) and a menu gives you some #'s to call. That gave me 250-561-6944 and that was the guy who helped me out. Good luck.

They received mine on the 2nd of October too. It should be online now, at least mine is. Credit card was charged on Monday :) Anyone know how long it should take from now? (I live in Ontario)
