That makes it "for work" so be sure to tell them such.
As for prior clearance.. it's ignored by them flat out.

We have same received time. I've sent mine on the 28 and they got it on November 1st. I'm calling them Friday since it will be 28 calendar days.
Where I did the course they asked us if it were for "work" you should somehow put on huge letter work on the envelope.

Here's my experience,
Did the PAL/RPAL course in late September 2013. I checked the box about a personal relationship breaking down within the last while, but didn't fill in my ex's info because we had not been living together in the last 2 years because she was away at university in another province. Sent in the application by registered mail and it was entered into the system on Oct2
Didn't hear anything and in mid November I was getting kind of curious.
Phoned 1-800-731-4000 and asked what was going on and they said it was time for the interviews, so I did my interview on the phone and got my application number.
Then I got my references to call back at 1-800-731-4000 ex. 2533 and do their interviews.
They asked my references all the usual questions and about how I was handling the end of my previous relationship. My references answered honestly and that I was doing great, happy in a new relationship, etc. etc.
Then I phoned back and they said my application was now on the desk of the BC CFO and they would do the final approval of the licence.
I checked online for about a week and my buddy, who applied at the same time as me was approved instantly, but I kept seeing "Still processing" online. Which, by the way, you need to go to a different old website to see your application status online right now because the new one is busted. I used this website: https://secure.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/eCFISIWS/editLicenceQueryAuthentication.do
So I looked and found the BC CFO's number 1-800-731-4000 ex. 9530 and called them myself. I just asked if they had received all my info from back east and they said that because I checked that box about my previous relationship ending it needed further review. So, the lady on the phone confirmed that I hadn't lived with her for 3 years and then approved me on the spot and said I would get my licence in the mail in less than 2 weeks. Checked online again and now it says my licence has been issued.
So, the moral of the story is that you should call and be proactive about your application if you want to speed it up and especially if you have checked any of the boxes about your personal history issues. If I were to tell someone who is about to start the process, call them after a few weeks and begin the process of interviews and answering the CFO's questions. By calling and being polite you get to the front of the queue it worked well for me.

Yeah, you're probably looking at maybe having your PAL in 1-10 months from now.
Once paid, they take about 2 weeks to put your info in the system. Then interview if RPAL. Then send it to CFO if ontario. Then if all is good and The CFO got laid, it'll be in the mail to you!

Ahh you lucky guy, my app is on the exact same timeline but it's just a PAL for me.
I might call in tomorrow and ask them if it was mailed yet since the last time they called the lady said they were scanning my photo, and that was about a week ago.

Called the CFC today, they told me my application is ready and once they get approval from the ontario CFO they will print it out and mail it to me.
So now I wait...

I asked her if I could do the interview today she said "no, the department which handles that is not ready"
She told me to call next week and check with them if I could do the interview. I asked for an extension number she told that
I should check with them first and if everything is good they will transfer me to the right department for the interview.
They started processing it on October 31st even though the tracking from Canada post says delivered on November 1st.
At least it's showing online already
So I guess I need to wait until next week and call them again right?

How long till interview ?
I did call a couple of weeks ago & they basically don't seem to want to talk to you unless it has been 45 days, so I called Monday (it had now been 45 days)& the recorded message says that your application is being processed & asks you to check online. I stayed on the line & apparently they tried to call me for my interview & I was unavailable? I am never away from my phone but who knows, it then went to a answering machine & I left a message with my phone# & application # & they called this AM & I did my interview they have not called my references yet. They said I could get my references to phone in with my app # & do the interview so I guess if they don't mind being on hold for probably 1/2 an hour or more due to" higher than normal volumes of calls" what are they a phone company! When do they have a "normal volume of calls"!
Have your references call early in the morning, I find I get through fairly quick. When you call and are in the menu, the second it starts talking press 1, then in that menu press 2, then 2, 2 then 1 ( you don't have to wait for the recording to Finnish telling you the menus every time, just gotta wait forint to start each time)
