Shorten PAL Approval Times

May not be illegal.. but definitely on the underhanded side esp since such a question is beyond insane in it's very nature.

Too bad you don't have a recording of their asking such a pointless question.

I've heard rumors before of them trying to scare people of in interviews and tricking people, if that was what this was or not I'm not certain.

Got my Rpal approved today after 7 weeks waiting the longest process was waiting for it to appear on the website for 4 weeks after that It was fast going with some advice from some other people on the forums.

phone phone phone 1-800-731-4000
As soon as it appears on the RCMP Website phone for an Interview they will transfer you to be Interviewed , get your File # then get your references to call in the same day .
I waited two more weeks but probably cold have shaved a week off by going into the BC CFO office in Surrey but when I did go in this morning they approved It in 10 minutes, hard to believe It was that fast at the office , I have read of people waiting 4-10 months could have been me if I didn't pay them a visit.
Should have my card in a week or two.

Called in yesterday and they said they're waiting for the Ontario CFO to approve it, then they will print it out and send me my license.

Should I call the CFO tomorrow if the online status still hasn't changed from ''Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.''?

I don't like the idea of exchanging calls between the CFC and CFO every few days.

Interview

Hi guys,

Stupid question but how is this interview is like? I mean what questions they ask?

I've heard the by credit card it takes a little longer also if you send your application without the paperwork from the course.

So I sen't a money order, and my application complete. So far they started on October 31st on the 3rd week it showed online.
I called them Wednesday and they told me they weren't ready for the interview yet. Asked me to call next week. I'm going to give a shot
tomorrow and call them back.

Let's see....

Hi guys,

Not stupid at all...

The guy I talked to (on Monday or Tuesday?) basically ran through the personel history questions that were on the restricted app: Charged/convicted of certain crimes ever or in the last x years? Domestic problems? Violence? Drugs? Depression? Suicide risk? Recent breakup? Recent bankruptcy? What do you want a restricted weapon for? The other thing that he asked me was how long I knew my references for or when we met. It was very matter-off-fact. I could just see this guy in my mind on the other end of the phone with a checklist in front of him reading a questionnaire that he's read hundreds of times before going tick, tick, tick. Lastly, I contacted my references before I had them call and gave them one piece of information: why I wanted a restricted license. I figured that it might be an unfair question to ask my references because neither are "gun" people and frankly I haven't really talked to them that much about it. That said, I wanted to cover my bases. I told them that I want to target shoot at a range. That's it. Good luck!

I checked my status before I went into the CFO office and it said ''Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.''? When I got home I checked again and the licence was issued, If you can get in to your CFO office it is worth the visit

My wife and I called the CFO to check up on the status of our applications as well (her yesterday and I today), and both have been approved. So like cloverfield says, if you have the time to wait on hold it is worth it.

It was 4:50 wen I call
Did not expect to be ready for interview
My referenes will call Monday

Oh man I didn't want to be rude so I asked her nicely if I could do the interview. But somethings when you are nice it's easy for them to say call us later.
I'm calling them on Monday.

Alright, I check my application online with old system but still didn't show approve yet but I did talk with Quebec CFO this Friday, she told it has been approved and should receive my card in 10 days, she also told me that it would the same number as my PAL so I can shop for black Friday.

Today, I was like meh, head to my local and buy a Tokareva TT33 pistol, surprisingly it was approved to transfer with my old PAL number, all I need is STATT and stupid law 9 course to bring it home.

Any excuse they can try to get away with remember... and it's certainly intentional by those in charge.

Hey guys, been on here for a while but decided to post up a question. I am 19 btw.

So basically I have had my Non restricted for a year now. Well, for career choices and my love of the sport I decided to get my Restricted. So I did my Restricted course at the end of September and passed. I sent my paperwork in the beginning of November, and no problems at all. It showed up online as it is completed initial processing, and is now in progress.

Within the last year after I got my non restricted I started College and became stressed out, and mildly depressed (not suicidal). To cope with this I was prescribed anti depressants. Now on the Restricted application I did not lie. I told the truth checked "yes" to one of the questions and sent a letter that I typed up with my application. I am calling Tuesday to do my interview and getting my references to do them as well. Now the question is.....will this affect my Application? Or do I have the upper hand with already having a pal?

Hi Sticky - I am trying to access the log in but having created the ID/Password, I am asked for the email address used to open and account with the RCMP. I haven't provided one and can't find where I could. Can you help?
Much appreciated,
Cam
