Shorten PAL Approval Times

My application has been sitting at the Ontario cfo office since the first week of January, Is there anyway to speed things up? I've never had one take this long before. When I called they said 10% of applications are automatically approved by their computer after the interview, the rest get reviewed at the cfo office and it will take however long it takes....

just call them and check the status of your application.

Hmm maybe. I just assumed it was 28 working days. Either way, I just logged into the website and 'License Issued'. That's 22 working days / 30 days total from the day they received the application until issued. Is that some sort of record? I didn't even hound them. One call the first time I tried to login because I thought I was doing it wrong. One call to verify the day after my CC was charged - they told me to call back in a few days for an interview. One call for my interview.

Congrats... mine was just approved as well. looks like yours was received a day later than mine but got approved first. not complaining though...

Seems like about a month seems to be the magic number for them to ding your credit card and start the ball rolling, then it is a crapshoot from there. I sent mine in about 3 weeks ago, still nothing online when I check, if nothing by the end of this week I will call in next week to check on the status.

After your application shows up online what extension do you call into for your interview? Also do you just say you are looking to do your interview and then ask for a file # so your references can call in as well?

Cheers

The day I called to verify the CC'd transaction, I asked if I could just do the interview while I was on the line. The girl looked into it but said it was too soon and to just call back in a few days. I called back in a few days and asked if I could do my interview, they looked up the application and then transferred me to the interviewer. Once it was complete, I asked if I should get my references to call in. The lady said that they didn't have to call in but if they did it would definitely speed things up. I can't remember the extension she told me but the reference number was just the application number you see online when you sign into GCkey. Everything was pretty easy for me but unfortunately one of my references told me he spent nearly an hour on hold.

When your application shows up online, you can see your application number on he top. Call in and when asked if you know the extension, enter 2533. Just tell them you want to move the application along.

17 Jan: Application received - confirmed with tracking #
31 Jan: Called, told unable to check if in system.
03 Feb : Called again today, asked to check if in system. Still nothing. Nothing charged to CC yet either...
10 Feb : "Application online!! "Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date."
10 Feb : CC charged.
10 Feb : Phoned to do interview but account was not ready for interviews yet.
13 Feb : Phoned to do interview but was told "application has not been scanned into system, couldn't do interview. call back in a couple days"

you can't speed up something that doesn't work, how can you make a car go fast when there is no motor in it,,,lights are on but nobody home,,,over 5 months and still being processed...

Playing the on hold game is so much fun with crappy music. They mail out a notice for you to call in for a interview, now? I was sent one, apparently. On hold to speak with a interviewer.

14 Feb : Called into ext. 2533 to request to do my interview. Was told I didn't need to do one and I could just have 1 reference call in and then my application would be sent to the CFO
14 Feb : Reference interview done!

Any explanation on why so slow? That is ridiculous. My buddies took over a year, one of his references would not answer the call because he did not recognize number. Wish I would have found this thread a year ago to help him speed it up.

Give them a call on Monday. No need for extension just proceed to check the status of your application. For me, some guy asked me my address again and phone number and told me to call back 1-2 weeks. Checked online 10 minutes later, had my PAL number and applied for my ATT. Got my licence the next Monday. Couldn't believe it.
