Shortmag myths

Actually, you're missing a lot. You may want to check out a host of European manufacturers who offer rifles in 8x57, 8x64 and 8x68. Blaser, Sako, Steyr Mannlicher, Sauer, etc.

Hmm, didn't know about that. Europeans do like thier 8mm's:p

Any north American companies making 8mm rifles other than 325WSM?

32 Win Special in Winchester 94 and the failed 8mm RemMag. None at this time I believe. The 338 is too popular of a caliber.
The 325 has a bit of a following, but nothing like the 338 WinMag, for example. Other short mags that are bound to fail are the 338 RCM and 338 Federal,IMO, though the latter isn't really a magnum.

325 will never be as popular as the 300 or 270, but yes, it does have a following.

I don't think the Ruger Compact Magnums will do very well but at least Hornady will keep making ammo and brass for them. 338 Federal likely will never be popular either, but since it's just a 308 case, brass will never be an issue.

Does a magnum name really make any game animal deader? A 150grain bullet to the heart and lungs of a whitetail deer is prolly gunna kill it quick no matter if the gun that spit it was a 3030 or 270 or 270wsm or any 30 cal out there. If you want a real magnum the logical choice would be a 22mag. What other magnum can compare to the advantages of the 22mag over the standard 22lr? Are short mags accurate? Depends on the shooter. Do they feed? I've seen fools short shuk a model 12 I've even seen guys jam a mauser98. If you want a short fat ugly cartridge go for it. I'm gunna stay with my 25-06 and 300winmag and when the funds come in my 375hh. Guns are like women they come in all shapes and sizes I prefer tall and thin guess it all works out

Seems you like big guns but your not sure why.

This is a magnum mentality? Ok....:p

I like big guns and small guns, and I know why. It's because they are guns, and i like guns. All sorts of guns.

Why would you prefer a WSM or a WSSM over a Metric Cartridge?

Never a fan of the wssm's

I own a few metric cartridges. One is called "magnum", the others are not.

Do they kill better?

One is not better than the other in the killing department, so it comes down to what interests a person. In my case, I have wide and varied interests, I don't restrict myself to "metric"
