Shorty shotguns...who else loves them?

I'm seeing a lot of very nice shotguns here, hopefully I don't get grief for the Turkish origins of my Canuck Defender!

It got Aervoe paint over epoxy primer, I swapped a couple springs for a lighter but reliable trigger pull, added a 6 shot side saddle, the factory sight was out of index so I made a new front sight, and fit a Williams WGOS to the receiver. The stocks are the Magpul lookalike variety, it takes Mobil chokes, and holds 4 or 5 +1 2¾" shells. It surprisingly patterns turkey loads as well as my Beretta. I can't complain about this shorty at all!

Here, let me help alleviate any grief for your Turkish shotgun (very nice btw) by posting a Chinese one.shorty 2.jpg

I have had one of those!

And a Valtro! Remember those? They might've been one of the first magazine fed tactical shotguns!View attachment 901152
Actually Valtros came along a little later. I managed to get my hands on one of the first 3 samples that came into Canada. I believe they were made by ATIS if memory serves me correctly. I relentlessly hounded the importer to sell me one of them so I could feature them in one of the greatest Canadian action films ever made. ;)Mag fed 1989.jpg ever

Tell us about that front sight, I have been playing around with ideas for a banded front sight for a single shot 45-70 similar to this. Is the ramp welded on to the barrel band?

Not that I particulary like them but a short Shotgun is handy in a Tent in Grizzly Country, kind of reasuring to me especially when at night one may has to argue with a Bear over the hard worked for Trophy and Meat in Fly in Camp. I do love my original Winchester 1897 becouse it has a Hammer which to me is much better in a defensive situation. Unfortunately that old 1897 has only the original 28" Barrel and is in 16Ga.. Therefore I recently aquired a Chinese copy of the 1897 with a 19.5" Barrel in 12Ga, seems to cycle well and total lenght is only 39+1/4" not a Beauty, but should do the Trick for little Money.

Good choice! I've had a couple dozen Winchester Model 97's over the years, and they are great. But, unless you find a really gently used one, most of them are pretty sloppy.
The Norinco clones are quite heavy duty and tight as a Winchester would hav even off the factory floor.
Plus, you can buy one for the same price as what a worn out Winchester will cost. I think I peed 350 bucks for mine a few years ago.
