Shorty shotguns...who else loves them?

I have had one of those!

And a Valtro! Remember those? They might've been one of the first magazine fed tactical shotguns!

I had the top-folder version that turned the Buttstock into a Carrying Handle! Incidentally, it made the overly long LOP of the original Fixed Buttstock much more manageable. The Brixia was actually pretty sweet with the folder mounted, although that silly choke needed to lengthen the overall length to 26" when folded was just plain stupid!

My 14" O/U I use mostly with sub caliber inserts (the reason for the scope) wearing a 1.5x4 Leupold on quick detach rings.
Probably since the pellet gun days as a kid, can't get over breaking open a barrel to load a shot. Just love that interaction you get between shots pulling a bullet from your pocket and dropping it in the chamber plus shooting cheap reloaded pistol ammo nice and slowly. I have alot of fun with this little guy. Shooting 12ga is alot of fun too, has fixed IC chokes.
Put it on the chopping block so many times but could never advertise for sale, glad I kept it as it has its own little niche now

Aye, dig it!!

Here’s my recent shorty boomstick build, an 870 police sporting field master furniture and a factory 12.5” barrel reworked to get a rib transplant from a sacrificial 26” factory barrel:

That’s sweet, Vang Comp has been doing short vent rib barrels. They look awesome, I’ve always disliked a vent ribbed shotgun barrel till I saw they’re 12.5”, 14” VR offerings.

That’s awesome. How difficult was it to remove and install the vent rib?
It was not for the faint of heart…lots of targeted heat to remove the factory silver soldering, a splice job to make sure there was a pedestal flush at the muzzle, and some moderate height adjustment for the other pedestals to get a good flat and parallel top surface. Re-soldering required selective tinning of the barrel (after an initial flux failure), but overall it turned out really good. Best part is the barrel now shoots point of aim point of impact, rather than 3 feet high at 50 yards.

Those with break action short guns. I really like the Churchill 12.5in SxS. But I am put off by it not having screw in chokes when some (IMO) less nice models like SC-215 do have chokes.

Is using chokes in a shorty even reasonable? And if it is maybe I should look at the 20in barrel model. I think 9in on SC-215 too short.
