Well, we are Cowboy Action Shooting Posses, living the dream of the period ending in 1898.
Our firearms, dress and attitudes reflect that so.......
As far as the rest, we just need a basic device at the line.
Our diesel generators, computers, printers etc. are all set up for our clubhouse, but I'll admit we do use paper score sheets on the line and a pencil to take down the times, before they go on the computer, in the club house.
Keep on keep'n on as you are Cold Lake....my club was badgered into getting the newest timers and score reporting instruments avail. and it has been a complete cluster F with a capital F. They wont sync when their supposed to half the time...Ipads are going dead mid match when the old timers need a new battery in the spring and their good till next spring. Now only a few trained members are capable of keeping score whereas before, any wife or spectator could handle a pen & paper scoresheet....the biggest problem is that children are not allowed close to the firing line and their the only ones that know how to efficiently handle the things. So now we have to have the "new electronics operator" trying their best to prove the damn things, and someone else doing the scorekeeping "old school" ....and dont anybody try to tell you that the electronic results come out faster, they just dont, correct, hand done results are just as fast.
And dont get me started on the cost difference of all those I-pads, charging stations, printers, gas for the gensets that run constantly to re-charge...We have a dozen of the old school timers that cost us total less than one I-pad and some of them have been around for 15 yrs and still keeping perfect shot times.
