I just bought a baikal MP-153 shotgun. I was reading the manual and it says to break it in with 100 rounds of 1 1/4 oz loads MINIMUM. Is there a particular reason for breaking it in with heavy loads?
I only bought the gun because it was cheap, and I figured I'd give it a shot, even though I wanted something in 3" instead of 3.5" as I had planned to use 2 3/4" and 3" shells mostly. Most of the ammo I have is 2 3/4" 1 1/8oz low brass. I have a hundred or so high brass but most of it is also 1 1/8oz. I have maybe 30 rounds total of suspected 1 1/4oz (not even sure about this, its winchester "high velocity" #5).
Do I need to go out an buy a bunch of pricy ammo to break in my gun? Or can I shoot more of the lighter stuff for the same effect?
