Shotgun dillema....need opinions

Obviously that is a promotional video, but -obviously- it also works.

It's a promo video, so of course they are going to make it appear to offer huge advantages. If they didn't, nobody would buy their product. But like in the movies, you can make a video appear to show whatever you want it to, regardless of reality.

If you're going to shoot clay targets in a field with a hand thrower use whatever you want however if you plan to visit a club you'd best stick with your 870.

Clubs may not permit "combat style" shotguns or have barrel length requirements (usually 26") and the Derya would fail on both counts. Even if the clubs allow it you may be the subject of some ridicule.

And this is sadly what most people worry about.f:P:

...and what if he hits everyone, will it still be no good?
Did you mean "everyone" or "every one." There's a difference. If the former it's a life term at least. ;)

If the second let us know if it ever happens.

In the meantime regardless of what type of shooting you are doing you will always do better with a gun more appropriate to the task.

For hunting does Derya offer a two-shot magazine or do you have to pin/block the mag to remain legal?

The MK 12 comes with a two shot magazine for hunting.

It's not unique to clay shooting. Show up at an IPSC shoot with a Luger or a 3-gun match with a Krieghoff K80 and you'll be the subject of ridicule from some shooters and your guns may not be allowed.

It doesn't bother me what someone else is using as long as they are shooting safely and within the rules. The OP asked about using the Derya for trap. The honest answer is that his gun might not be allowed by some clubs or he may face snide remarks from other shooters.

Anyone that ridicules another shooter for choice of firearm is pathetic, regarless of what game you are playing.

One thing I've learned is that there is always more than one way to skin a cat, and sometimes a non traditional approach works just as well as the traditional one.

We agree but unfortunately it does happen. My posts were meant to inform a new shooter what he might face showing up with a Derya.

The only problem he'd face on my squad would be me pestering him to swap guns for a station so I could try it. :d

Get it if you like it. My club doesn't allow guns like that though. No pistol grips and no barrels shorter than 24". Its pretty easy to get away with using one on the sporting clays field as its typically not supervised. Just carry the gun in its case from one station to the next and only bust the gun out when its your turn to shoot. Put it away as soon as you're done. Show up very early and you won't get stuck with the afternoon rush with lots of people watching you shoot.

Wow that's pretty Liberal of your club.

It's a shotgun only club that the vast majority of its members are old shrivelled balls men with shotguns that cost more than my truck. They say it's to keep the "rift raft" out with those rule. Is a cool club if you shoot with a group of your buds but terrible if you have to shoot with one of them as most of them are Digweed and Hathcock wannabes. Show up early in the morning as they open and you can get a round of sporting clays in without ever having to wait at each station. Then hit up a round of trap or skeet and it's almost lunch time. Go have lunch and come back and most people are done at sporting clays so if you want to get another round in you can. This is my Sunday routine.
