That's only becoz a handful of uninformed people here swung their handbags first by trashing Hong Kong as being "run by commies", and they claimed we have no freedoms, which is total rubbish. I think Canada is a wonderful country, but get your facts straight before trashing other places.
The Index Of Economic Freedom might give you a clue how Hong Kong is rated.
"Economic freedom is the fundamental right of every human to control his or her own labor and property. In an economically free society, individuals are free to work, produce, consume, and invest in any way they please, with that freedom both protected by the state and unconstrained by the state. In economically free societies, governments allow labor, capital and goods to move freely, and refrain from coercion or constraint of liberty beyond the extent necessary to protect and maintain liberty itself."
Not too bad for a place with a maximum personal income tax rate of 15%, a flat corporate tax rate of 16% and free health care for all citizens!
Only from impoverished Nations, and that's a no-brainer, becoz they'd also love to live in Hong Kong.
.
Some countries measure thier wealth in disposeable earnings, but ALL the cash in the world cannot create more real estate to breath clean air & really live and thrive in.
Comparing HK to Canada is like saying you love the super-apartment dweller life and yearn to live in the "Perfect World" of Manhattan, in NYC. I also can turn around 360 degrees without smelling my neighbor's armpit & I like that little fact for some odd reason. You and Jennifer Anniston have more in common in regards to shopping habits, than you do with the average member of CGN.
Who really swings a purse, now really?
Long story short I live in a province that rivals Colorado and Montana for variety of big game. I've also enjoyed high power rifle target shooting & taken many whitetailed deer, all well within the average Canadian working man's wages to do so. Within this timeframe, I've had ample opportunity to shoot a variety of varmint species also with centrefire rifles, and I developed my off-season skills doing exactly this. I also shoot handgun recreationally and I bring them back & forth to the range under my own care and control in a legal manner of the transport regulations. We have two black bear seasons in Alberta and apparently there is no shortage of Asian "medicinal businessmen" that are willing to illegally purchase gall bladders from those stupid enough to sell them on the black market. That's because conservation practices are unknown in parts of the earth closer to you than to me.
At my workplace, amongst a crew of 25, half of this number, are handgun shooters or big game hunters, and one devouted migratory bird hunter also. With big game hunters being the higher majority. Two are known bow hunters.
Easily here on CGN there are many more whom have a more rich background then myself, both in recreational shooting & in big game hunting. Some are devoted shotgunners, that hunt upland game or wait patiently in duck blinds for mallards or geese, which are very numerous here as well. Target shooting is alive and well everywhere you go in Canada, be it pistol action shooting, rimfire rifle, bench rest centrefire rifle, or long distance high powered rifle competition. Trap, skeet & sporting clays as well, one could probably argue, there are more shotgun ranges than anything else here, because thier legal template is much smaller.
Some of them are lucky enough, to have done all thier hunting in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta & British Columbia.
Where are the Rockies you say?
Easy to find, because it's the summertime magnet for Japanese and Chinese tourists in the western part of Canada.
Get a life metrosexual........
PS: I noticed the very first Communist Chinese to legally cross into HK after Edit: 1997, were the PLA with weapons & in full uniform.
Perhaps that was a little message from Bejing, of who really has control?
By fate alone I was born Canadian, you in Hong Kong I guess. We live with our lives and try our very best to enjoy life. But don't even begin to compare freedoms friend. I don't have to cling onto +10 rounds of pistol magaizne ammo, in 'my pistol' while it is stored in someone elses government approved armory, to give the illussion of freedom. If this "floats your boat" more power to you buddy. We are on two differing universes in this regard.
