should i buy a cz 858??

So .Ben...since you've had the benefit of our wisdom for a whole week, I have to ask,

Have You Bought One Yet????????

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bought it at ellwood epps yesterday:cool: well actully i put it on layaway till i can better afford it i already have a case of milsurp ammo so i should be putting some rounds through it in 3 weeks i can hardly wait:dancingbanana:

thanks for all the positive feedback guys!

on iron sights I can place 3 to 5 (out of 5) shots on a target at 300 yds when my iron sights are sighted into 300 yds. Any inaccuracy I've experienced is largely due to my skill level, not the gun's accuracy. That said, due to the short sight radius, it's less accurate than an AR.

I have one. One of the best platforms - not to mention one of the mostest funnest - I have ever owned. If the Libs/NDP/liars win the election, I will buy another in protest. If the Conservatives win, I will buy two more in celebration. Buy mucho ammo. Get some softpoint too for hunting.

Ben. Congrats and welcome to the Happy Land of CZ ownership! Post some pics when you get it!

You should definitely buy one. This was my first purchase after a 17 year sabbatical from buying any firearm. (my last purchase a Mosin Nagat M44 for $54.00 from SIR) With a major learning curve, I found it was easy to shoot, easy to clean, and the ammo is cheap.

I bought my CZ858 from Wolverine for $650.00 and 1120 rounds of 7.62X39 for $170.00. I also got 60 rounds of Sellior and Belliot 7.62x39 hunting ammo for $52.00 as I fully intend to take down a deer or two with this rifle this season. I want to prove a point to myself and other non hunters that these assault style rifles are more than just for show or posturing and with proper setup are effective for hunting. Dion can take that to the bank!

Today I just picked a VZ Scott scope mount and large muzzle break.

I don't have one yet, but have handled one and used to own an AK (ah, the good old days). The VZ is a much better handling firearm than the AK and from the ones I've seen on the range more accurate too. It's on my 'buy list'. If the AK was still available I would still prefer the VZ (any length).

I used my Vz58 at Tactical Response this summer and it kicked ass. I fed about 1000 rounds of 45 year-old corrosive Czechoslovakian surplus ammo into it (not to mention about five pounds of wet sand! ) and it only jammed once! To clear the jam? Pull the bolt back and keep shooting!

As for the accuracy question, it ISN'T a question. The cartridge that it's chambered for is good out to about 300m and it is capable of keeping all shots on an IPSC target at that range.

You would be foolish not to own at least one of these superb rifles.

ETA: Buy a couple of bottles of Windex with your Czech surplus ammo and clean within an hour or so of when you stop shooting; those corrosive primers are bad juju.

To Buy Or Not To Buy A CZ58

Go buy one, because you can't buy an AK and probably will never be able to get one.
I like mine and it has a great feel. I am not that excited about the folder as it's not as tough as the FNC or Galil.
