Works out about right, $100. 1979 money is equivalent to about $340 today so the prices have risen approximately with inflation. This is an interesting one, how the cost factors went to crazy. Back in (maybe) 1979 I paid $49.00 each for the SKS purchased in minimum groups of 20. I was a CIII dealer back in the 70's through maybe 2005 when the sales to LEA's dropped off and the licenses went to $2,000.oo.
I sold them for $89.oo each, but then the Valmets I imported were only $359.oo.......... Yeah, those were the fun days.

Completely new to the game... all these posts have me itching for my own!
I should've listened when I tried to tell everyone it would just be one gun![]()
Russian SKS, here I come!
... Still don’t think I’ll ever own a Garand at their price point or an M1 carbine as the ammo is too expensive for what it is but never say never

Getting an Sks is a no-brainer. Like previously stated buy 2!
Buy two.
Keep one stock and tacticool up the other one

Remarkably, the SKS is often still cheaper than a Mosin Nagant?...![]()
