There are some great deals at Nordic Marksman and SFRC on 40 and 45 3rd gen Glock pistols presently. Of course I know the 4th gen has been out for a while and the FBI's M model is coming soon which is basically the 5th generation. Would anyone have any issues with the 3rd gen model 21 or 22 that is still new in box for range use?

No. Even today companies such as lonewolf, rockyourglock, glockstore, brownells, etc are still selling gen 1-3 parts. It's not going away anytime soon. The advantage of the gen4 are the backstrap system and the much easier mag release. I personally don't feel a difference with the new recoil spring.

Nope...the gen 3 G21 is actually preferable for it's grip angle (fits most better than the gen 4). The only thing I miss are the larger mag release and texture of the gen 4 which is superior in my mind. Great gun...go forth with confidence young man! :)

The wife's Glock 22 has thousands of reloads through it, IPSC major load, no problem. Just inspect or change the locking block pins every few thousand rounds. I use an EGW undersized die to size further down the case, that way any bulge from the unsupported chamber is eliminated.
