Should the "Hunting!" section be a Group Membership on CGN??

People have thier opinions, as long as the posts arent disruptive or rude then just ignore it.

If i was to hunt it would have to be something i would actually eat. Moose, elk, halibut. :D

You'd hunt the mighty halibut?? You, Sir, are an incredibly brave man!!
I have some questions about just that game.
What are the open seasons, bag limits, and licensing requirements?
What calibre spear would you suggest using?
What specific type of camo clothing would you advocate?
Are there any scent lures, rattling bones, or calls I would need to do this?
What is the most effective method of hunting them? Stalk and shoot, still hunt, or baiting? And are they all legal?
:stirthepot2:

I think everyone is intitled to their own opinion we don't all have to like it but if us "hunters" don't start banding together were going to start losing more control over what guns we can have and were we can shoot them. So if one person doesn't agree with wolf hunting or shooting a chickadee and starts making negitive posts on it it gives all of us a hard time and more rights to the goverment and tree huggers and we start losing control of are own rights and freedoms.

This is exactly my point...we are all "hunters" in the eyes of the government...so when they see "hunters" opposed to things like crossbows, long range shots, baited hunts, game reserves etc...it just makes us all look bad.

As long as what someone is doing is legal, I say have at er!

I lol'd. I think that the hunter haters need to realize that huntng is probably one of the major reasons we still own guns. What is the point of target practice if you're never going to shoot anything?

I'll bet there are more people that target practice and don't hunt, than people that hunt.

If people insist on making negative comments about hunting, they ARE being disruptive. This should not be allowed. As hunters, why should we have to wade through the anti's crap on a 'hunting' board? Of all places, this should be one where we can discuss hunting openly and tell hunting stories free from ridicule.

If you don't like it - don't look at it - and STAY OUT !

I work in the firearms and hunting industry and have had many annoying antis say some pretty dumb things but I usually just try to inform them of the sport.
I have heard " We should give the animals guns to make it a fair fight" or
"are those animal mounts real? .... That's horrible, it makes me sick yada yada... "
so I ask do you like to enjoy a nice bbq steak or hamburgers?
" Well yes of course" they reply
Well I ask have you ever seen how some animals are raised and force fed, pumped full of antibiotics and such just to be slaughtered and butchered into nice little fancy packages so you can eat them without having to think of the animal that gave its life to feed you & your family.

I have had people tell me many times how hunting should be illegal. I usually reply so should liberals, I can almost guarantee anyone dumb enough to say that is a liberal.

The amount of anti-hunting comments in this section is retarded!! It seems that every time someone takes an animal, there is some "holier than thou" elitist who wants to point out how unethical you are. I thought we were all hunters, aparently some people just don't get it.

Just shoot them down, with a bit of class... as I like to do.H:S:

I don't share hunting or fishing stories here, lots of anti's and grammar Nazi's make it not worth the hassle; I do like reading and looking. Thanks to those that do :D

It's obvious that some people in this sport are not hunters and there are some hunters that are still using the same box ammo that they got with the rifle 30 years ago. But seriously, do some people honestly think that getting into this sport that they are NOT going to encounter a LARGE number of shooters that are primarily hunters, whether it be at the range or on the internet?? By publicily ridiculing and calling down your fellow "shooters" because your opinion, ethics or values are different then theres, you are giving the antis exactly what they want, more controversy, internal bickering and division of the masses. If #### like this continues, we are going to bring upon our own downfall.

BTW the "only kill something you plan to eat" type responses are, I find, anti hunting.

Dude that's just unfair. I come to this forum almost daily and love reading 90% of the stories and pictures that people share here.

But there are many "kill only what you eat" hunters out there, and yes I'm one of them. If you feel that as long as it is legal to shoot an animal then it is moral to do so, that's your prerogative and yes your right do to so. However if you come on a public internet forum and post about it then you should accept that not everyone will feel like high-fiving you for what you did. Not saying it's objectively wrong, but people have different opinions!

"Hunting!" is one of the best forums on CGN, and a pretty civil one as far as internet forums go. I really don't get this thread. Seriously, who's the elitist here? Who's trying to divide hunters?

See..... Then they call your education into question. Do you have a GED? Is this funny for those that don't? Do you think we should have university education as a prerequisite for the hunting section?

No I don't have a GED and I apologize to anyone I may have offended, lest the "Regulators" get me again. I keep fogetting to add "LOL", for the more serious folk, reading. Sorry.

I think we have to agree to disagree without going into immature rants and name calling like has happened here in the past.Arguing about hunting styles and which is better is like coming to blows over who's grandma makes better strawberry jam.If someone wants to express their views or opinions let them,if you feel differently that is perfectly fine, voice your stand on the subject also, there are many new hunter/shooters who are likely looking here for knowledge and opinion in order to form their own.

If we can demonstrate that we have the intelligence and maturity to objectively have a difference in opinion is WAY more important than agreeing every time on what your neighbor says.We can have internal bickering without looking like spoiled children and still get somewhere, after all this IS how progress is made in a civilized society. Our downfall won't be internal bickering but the inability to show resolution to problems and differing views and accepting our fellow sportsman for their differences also.

Again this is my opinion.

My brain hurts now.

I've said it many times, sportsmen in general are their own worst enemies.

If you want people to respect your sport you had best start with your own attitudes.

But posts are edited or removed, but if its gone and you never saw it there to begin with, how would you now it had been removed? Nobody is turning the hunting forum into a Peta town meeting..:)
