Shout out to Vortex Canada

My SPARC DOA, My Vortex pst 1-4x24 sent in for warranty 2X.

Yeah Lemons are everywhere. Just more so with Vortex

But my PST 4-16-50 never had an issue. I did upgrade to a S3 8-32-56 and even with less feature I had to spend allot more.

Vortex Resale sucks. :p lost way more then I expected. But EE is flooded with them so I had to price accordingly.

As mentioned above, I believe many people get caught up with features and fail to see the overall picture. Having additional features does not make a scope any better in terms of quality. If Vortex is able to make a scope with additional features for the same price then obviously there is an area where they are saving costs that allows them to add these extra features and maintain a certain price point. Unfortunately, that area appears to be where the scopes are coming from which likely encompasses QC issues.

I am not a Vortex hater BTW. Every Vortex scope I have used has been great. Notably, a Viper HS that I've used really impressed me with its clarity and brightness. But from an engineering and manufacturing standpoint costs are being reduced somewhere in order to offer features at a lower price point than many other brands.

That's still pretty good warranty service to get it back that fast....I've dealt with warranty on 2 Burris scopes and a Swarovski scope. If I remember correctly the Burris scopes took about 3 or 4 months to send new ones and the Swarovski took over 6 months to get repaired.

That can't be cut into stone...

Alternative materials, lower mark-up, better efficiency, mass production, and brand marketing are all means of cutting costs without potential product impact. Not saying any one or all apply, but just because something costs a certain value doesn't make it better. Designer clothes, automobiles of many makes, "high end trim" lines on mostly anything, etc.

I can make moderately good product and charge a premium and some fool will think it's the be all, end all because only he paid the exuberant amount of money for it.

Generally, from what I've seen they are priced accordingly. Problem is people compare them to more expensive products and expect them to be the same. Value per dollar has to be considered. It can go both ways.

When I look at where they are made, and where the competition is made, that is the apples to apples IMHO, and they are grossly overpriced. If you are comparing "features" for "features" like a Viper is the same as Nightforce, then the cost cutting is by having it made in the Philipines vs Japan, but the quality is not the same no matter how much you would like it to be.
Where its made tells the quality of the optics more then anything else IMHO.
If Redfield Revenge made in Philippines can retail a 6-18x44ao for $300 yet a 4-16x44ao Viper is $700 is the Vortex a good deal? Or a 1-4x24 30mm illuminated ranging reticle by Burris for $350 (philippines) vs $550 for a similar Vortex Viper. This actually applies to thier whole line up, from the Crossfire right up to the Razor line. Someone else makes a very similar scope for much less $$$ then Vortex.

That was the whole point of my post as you've realized. I've been purchasing and appreciating good quality optics for many decades, so don't really require all the huffy lectures about quality vs price point. This was my first Vortex purchase, and the Crossfire II is going onto a new Savage 93R17hmr which I purchased for some low-recoil range time. The price was right and the optics were good enough (probably more than I needed) for my purposes.
To get such exceptional Customer Service from a Canadian distributor is nothing short of astonishing.....and I've dealt with other Canadian distributors in the past who couldn't care less.
I've yet to get a response from the store I purchased it from (not in the Lower Mainland), btw......that's more like the Customer service I'm used to with this hobby. ;)

Well gentlemen,
Let me suggest we all step back, take a breather and watch a very interesting test of a Vortex rifle scope that I came across some time ago. I purchased a Vortex Diamondback
4 to 12 power a couple of years ago and just love it. It is bright ,clear and has never needed any adjustment after my initial sighting/zeroing in.

Anyways, I decided to see what reviews of this Vortex scope might be available on you tube and found this video. There are 3 parts to this video. This is the link to part one:

In case the above link does not work then please type in : Vortex Optics Independent Rifle Scope Test on the you tube search bar.

Enjoy- fortuna

I came to this thread because I am trying to learn about Vortex optics it has been very informative by the way especially where the different models are made and the warranty centre contact info.

I bought my first Vortex product last year a pair of 7X bino's (I hunt heavy bush for blacktail deer so need the lower magnification) they were an inexpensive model they looked good and felt good but the optics had a bit to be desired.

I used them a few times during spring/summer then hunting season/Sept came along I go out a few times then the adjustable height right eye piece jammed in the middle of the adjustment ended up ripping the rubber cap/cover off trying to unjam it have it held in place with black tape now.

I'm a Leupold scope guy been one now for over 30 years I have never had any kind of warranty issue ever = I do not buy their most expensive lines VX3's are the top models I own.

I've tried/still own other makes of scopes Weaver/Burris/Redfield/Bushnell but when I need a scope that I trust to handle the recoil of my heavier recoiling rifles I keep coming back to Leupold just wish I could afford their better quality scopes.

I recently bought a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 and I'm loving it. Vortex Canada are a very good company to deal with. Hats off to them!
As far as being over priced, I beg to differ, I think their pricing is inline for what you get.
Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.
Cheers!

Or you could buy a quality product and never have to deal with warranty or the company, just a thought.

I work at a gunstore part-time and I've seen a Leupold VX2, brand new in the box, without a reticle installed. EVERY manufacturer in the world will let a bad product slip out from time to time. It's simply not cost effective to send every piece through quality control inspection. Typical QC is 1 out of every 10 units at best.
