I gotta say that looks quite nice ... I'm not one for synthetic stocks lately as i'm loving the wood feel/look ... but that's sharp with matching handguard!

Okay, you guys got me to go out to Home Hardware, and pic up a can of Krylon Fusion. I looked for textured but they had none. They had lots of the camo flat colors so I chose one only.

Had it all stripped about 11.00p.m. last evening, ready to go and.........I said,.. "Omg what am I doing, I make a mess of everything I touch with paint". I chickened out.

Maybe tonight,...just maybe..........

I saw the Boyds sale as well posted by another, ...checked my Master-bateCard's balance, oops:redface:. Asked the wife for her's, and so.. won't be ordering one this weekend anyway:(.
Now back to that$8.00 can of paint.....

Painting is very easy... It's the prep-work that counts.

- Rough-up the surface with ~400 grit sandpaper (+/- 100 grit).
- Wash in HOT/SOAPY water "vigorously", rinse in hot water.
- Air-dry and/or use compressed air to dry crevices & corners.
- Use a "tack-cloth" to remove any visible fibres/hairs/etc.
- Apply a light coat of Krylon (full coverage, but light), then another after it looks dry (it's not) ~15min later.
- Allow to dry overnite atleast, 24hrs would be better.

Done like diner...

Looks good for 12 bucks. After seeing your I was set on a textured stock, just took a slightly different direction.

It's not all that hard, plus if you have another stock in mind, why not practice? I to would like to upgrade my stock in the future, in the mean while this one may go through many trial and errors.

Here is bed liner on a custom USGI stock:

That looks pretty sharp.

What are you going to wreck...a cheap Chomuniest plastic stock that you can get on EE for 50 bucks worst that can happen is you sand it off and do it again
I have found with the textured paint Is go slow and further away from your piece than normal paint ...shoot 3 or 4 light coats over the day..Your trying to put texture on not the color..And if you go too heavy to fast it will run

I've done a few mods to the chicom stocks now. I use 80 grit sandpaper on a mouse sander, then hit with adhesion promoter spray, then 2 coats EZ Liner. Let it cure 72 hours then either krylon paint it or dull it down with Rona matte clear laquer ;)
